That last scramble actually looked more dangerous than it was.

Maybe Bruce will make another quip about how good Carolina is at selling penalties.

Just another year of having a regular season stretch looking like the best team in hockey only to have it mean nothing when it counts.

Carolina was the better team. They’re deeper at forward, they’ve got more speed, and they got better goaltending in the series. Bruins knew they had to win one on the road and couldn’t do it.

It’s Carolina’s time now.

Now we wait for Patrice Bergeron’s decision.

I want to blow up the whole organization, most importantly, start with the GM.
Sweeney should forever be known as the guy who was gifted Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrnak, Chara, and Rask and only got his organization past the 2nd round once, and that was a fluke where the Tampa Bay Lightning completely shit their pants in the first round that year. It's fucking criminal how he filled out this roster with either inconsistent hacks like Coyle or with skillless plugs like Nick Fucking Foligno and the fucking Ritchie brothers.

Agree with this. I’m mostly Ok with Cassidy although at this point his race is run. But this team has consistently spent decent money on JAGs and it costs them every year

Couldn’t agree more. And now we’re left with a complete tear down.

Overall a good effort, but I need a coach who’s pulling the goalie on that PP.

And the one year they got farther it was heavily aided by one of the most sweetheart paths to the finals a team has ever gotten.

Edit: Sorry I see now you mentioned that. I have been drinking…

Absolutely.

I'm convinced that part of the problem is that the Bruins are a team with too much institutional history. I want a front office that has never heard of Harry Sinden. Time to move on.

I need to catch up here. Thankfully I'm not an angry drunk, because I need to settle down a bit.

Maybe I'm a bit of a casual homer, but I continue to find it unbelievable that we've only gotten one cup out of this past 15 year or so run.
In fairness to Sweeney and co., it's really hard to win the Cup.

That said, this team under its current (and hopefully soon-to-be former) regime has been a 2nd round fauxtender for years. As I said elsewhere: San Jose Sharks East.

Between here and everywhere.
I don't want to keep beating this drum, but if DeBrusks issue is with Cassidy - it's a real simple equation for me.

The shelf life of a coach is only so long, it may be that Bruces is already expired. DeBrusk is only 25 years old on a very reasonable contract.

DeBrusk can be more of a part of the future of this team than Cassidy.

If this is the end for Bruce in Boston, he should go out guns blazing in the presser. Bury the officials, bury Carolina, bury Bettman. Don't be nice and professional and respectful. Call 'em all out using four-letter words and question their integrity. The league is clearly picking favorites every year and he should say just that. Sarcastically congratulate the 'Canes on their Cup win. Mention the Blues while you're at it.

100% agree. I want a more offensively inclined coach anyway.

This is a death stop for the next coach. They have generally been good enough to win a round maybe 2 for the last 5-6 years with one exception. Even if Bergy returns I don’t see it getting better. If he leaves the new coach will have big organizational and fan base expectations but without the roster to succeed. Tough spot.
If they voluntarily take a step back with this roster, I would go hard after Trotz.

Who’s available in the off-season in the David Backritchligno mold? We should spend on one of those guys.

Really? I probably bring him in for the opposite scenario: they finally take it all-or-nothing and know they need a guy to get them over the hump for the one year.

That’s my general take on it as well. They’re neither fish, nor foul. Some skill, but not off the charts. A little bit physical, but not really a truly heavy, tough team. I’m ready for both a new FO and coaching approach.
