5 days until the awards show. I can't wait to see Timmy and Chara smile every time they walk past Thelma, Louise, Kesler, Luongo, and Vigneault.

Bruins should all give them a standing O with hoots, hollers, and whistles for their President's Trophy :rolling:

Or, Bruins can take the high road like Thomas did telling Luongo in the handshake line he thought he was an excellent goalie. Still, even though he didn't say it, you could easily imagine Tim thinking "in spite of what everyone said".

I don't want this thread to ever end. Obviously it's up to PSK when he wants to start the offseason gamethread.

This season isn't over for me until I've at least had a chance to drunkenly shout embarassing exclamations of love to people who can't hear me driving by on amphibious vehicles. Keep the train rolling!

I think it still hasn't really hit me that Cam Neely's name is going on the Cup. The initial excitement over the team and the win has passed, but at some point I expect my six year old self to bust out screaming because my favorite athlete is getting his name on the Cup forever.

I just left the Garden and walked straight past Adam McQuaid on Staniford St. and didn't quite figure it out. He looked straight at me and had this shit eating grin on.

The fact that you didn't get a picture with Darth Quaider leaves me greatly saddened.

Obviously he was doing rails at Halftime.

Fack, I would kill for a picture with Quaider.

I would've pulled a Chris Farley Show if I ran into McQuaid.

"Hey, remember that time you went to go fight Erhoff and you grabbed him and then he fell down and turtled."
"Yeah, kenneycb..."
"Yeah, that was awesome."

I'm saddened myself. I was walking up towards the Subway on Cambridge Street, and 3 people were walking down towards me. When they got near me, I looked over and 1 of the girls was playing with some dude's hair. Then I realized it was a mullet, and figured it out.

So it has been revealed - the reason behind Tuukka wearing Horton's helmet coming off the plane and bus.

Exhibit A: Finnish goaltending coach (and former Thrasher) Pasi Nurminen, in a similar state of intoxication as Tuukka after Finland won the World Championship

Exhibit B: Self-defense

Felger:

"This makes you realize how hard it is after you win this. Training camp starts in 2 months, and they're going to spend the next month drinking. And they're off to a flying start there."

Awesome.

Well, 9 more hours of reading RMPS and looking at pictures/videos. Guess it's time to go home and watch some NHL network.

That's a good point. It's something to think about - I'm considering 6/15/11 in Bruins jersey number font.

In my parade-induced insomnia, I'm watching dafoomie's highlights. I'd forgotten my uberhate for Jannik Hansen in game 7. Cheap shot on Ference, cheap shot on Boychuk on the 2-on-1, spear on McQuaid... just a disgusting display once more from a guy you wouldn't expect.

Between here and everywhere.
This is what I mean when I say spoked B's come out kind of...not good.

I've never seen someone get one where it's proportionate, and doesn't look wonky.

Some other ideas...

This is a cool concept, but poor execution:

This is ok. Kind of boring though:

This one is pretty awesome, actually. If you're a girl:

I just might end up getting the Cup with 15JUN2011 underneath it.

Okay, I finally have to post in the game thread because it has been three days, and after watching the parade on TV this morning I think I have finally overcome the emotion of this.

For some reason, I really don't know what it is or why, this Cup means more to me than the Sox World Series in 2004 did. I think part of it is the fact that I was very detached from the Series that year due to work stuff (I had a field exercise that forced me to miss games 2 and 3, and much of game 4 of the Series), but at the time it felt like the greatest feeling in the world to make it to a TV in time to see Trot Nixon hit the double to make it 3-0.

In retrospect, the feeling doesn't even compare to the feeling I felt when the B's won the Cup on Wednesday. The last three months have been the most stressful, and most amazing months of my life as a sports fan, and that comes from a fan who lost touch with the Bruins for a long time after Neely's career ended. I had a very hard time enjoying hockey after he was forced to leave the game, as he was my favorite player in any sport (I won't say idol because I never got to play hockey growing up, but he was my favorite still), and then the ownership group just didn't seem to want to put an enjoyable product on the ice, let alone a winning one. Combine that with my departure for the military in 1999, and the difficulty with following teams from abroad back in those days (did I really just type that? I must be getting old...) only made me lose touch even more.

Then, 2008 happened. They couldn't win the series against Montreal, but I was able to watch the games on a silent TV in Iraq, while 50 other people slept in the building around me, and I prepared to leave for Landstuhl, Germany to have a kidney removed, and I wondered what had made me lose touch with this amazing sport over the years. In 2009 I watched all the playoffs I could, but we were in a hotel at the time in between moves so all I got to see was what was on Versus, but it was still an amazing year, right up until the OT loss in Game 7.

Last year was brutal. The day after Game 7 of the Philadelphia series, we had a work get together at my squadron commander's house, and I bravely wore my Bruins shirt and hat into a crowd of pilots, knowing that I would get heckled all day long. All I could say was, "Wait until next year."

Well next year came. They certainly didn't make it easy, and while I never gave up I will admit that being down 2 games to none in any playoff series is pretty fucking distressing. To do it twice, and still come back to win is just bad for my heart. I have absolutely fallen in love with this team this year, from Tom Thimas to Brad Marshmont and everyone in between, this has been the most enjoyable playoff ride of my entire life, in any sport. And I will willingly admit that I balled my eyes out this morning when I got to see Cam Neely raise the Cup for the first time.

If you had told me six month ago that a team owner of any sport could make me cry with six words, I give you Jeremy Jacobs:

"Lord Stanley....

Thirty-Nine years....

Welcome home!"

WWWWWHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

More than anything, I can't help thinking of all the times people made fun of me for being a diehard. "Why are you watching them?", "Aren't the Celtics on?", "People still watch hockey?". I even had one guy tell me that Bowling was more popular. And I think of these folks, not to give them the Nelson treatment, but because I never stopped watching. I don't think I could have anyways, but more than anything, this feels like validation. Being at that parade was so surreal. Seeing that many Bruins fans. I walked around Boston all day. From the Faneuil Hall to City Hall to Boston Common. The GF and I just walked around. Soaked it in.

It was beautiful.

I still can't believe they fucking did it.

I'll probably have to process that before thinking rationally about a tattoo.

The Canucks are the best team in hockey and we will win the cup next year. It should be ours this year, but Bettman and his band of idiots are too chicken to admit they are corrupt and call for a re-match of the series. If Boston had any class, they would void the cup and ask for the series to be played again next week with unbiased officials and no Gary Bettman.
Oh, tards.
