I hate that Tim Thomas feels that even if he starts the season off poorly next year that he will get disrespected and harassed by fans. :(
I do too, but maybe he talked to Keith Foulke? And Foulke was never the same because of his workload in winning the World Series for us.

Really, the only downside I can think of here is we won't get a picture of the Sedins with the trophy for a "2 girls, 1 cup" caption

Watching the live feed on www.ctvbc.ctv.ca -- it's clear there are not enough police in downtown Vancouver.

I was but now I am streaming 98.5 all night God I miss Boston.

Now it really turns ugly as they report 3 dead...

Edited to add photo and news on fatalities...

Sisters on NHLN. Heard a lot of "uhhhhhmmmmms"
Going to be pretty funny in Vegas next week when Daniel wins the Hart, Kesler wins the Selke, and Thomas wins the Vezina with a grin from ear to ear.

Nope, I'm wasting the afterglow of the Bruins' first title in my lifetime lamenting the bitter capricious and faithless fickleness of Boston sports fans.
I mean, Thomas was laughing as he said "I think the Cup buys me a couple of games", I don't think he's all that concerned about it.

"faithless fickleness".

That's cute. Very redundant.

Patrice Bergeron joined the Triple Gold Club tonight. World Championship, Olympic Gold, Stanley Cup. Also won a World Jr. gold for good measure.

This team so deserved to win, but as somebody who's Bruin-fan-heart was shredded by all those oh so close series with the Canadiens in the the 70's it was still hard to accept that victory was possible. Until, weird as it sounds, I heard about the lunar eclipse tonight and remembered the otherwordly result in 2004. One doesn't guarantee the next, but the sheer symmetry of two droughts ending under the same astronomical event was kind of mind boggling. Bruins heart won the game, but that was the talisman that kept my own from exploding during this utterly awesome evening.

I think we're both celebrating and in good moods, so let's not make this into a thing - but if you want to call me out for being redundant, fickle and capricious are the synonyms, not faithless and fickle.

Pats and Red Sox players taking to twitter to spread the joy.

The Kraft family takes out full-page ads in Thursday's papers to congratulate the Bruins
Can't say I followed them all year, but certainly got into the bandwagon for the playoff run. Three Game 7 wins? Amazing. I was 14 when they won in 72, and it seemed as though it would just keep happening. Then it seemed as though it would never happen again.

Just a great night.

apologies. I thought you were trolling.

and i disagree with your belief that faithless does not equate to being fickle.

I didn't know Brad Marchand had a lisp. Opposing players must absolutely HATE that guy.

I think it was on HF but Kirk pretty much nailed Marchand several months ago when he said he's not a guy that will carry a team offensively on a first line or whatever but he is the kind of player who would score the triple OT winner in the SCF. He was fucking nails tonight.

Seeing the Bruins finally join the Title-Town party is one hell of a richly deserved sight for the sore eyes of you all stalwart Bruins fans.

And having Claude join the first Mount Rushmore of professional sports as one of four sitting championship coaches in Boston is fucking mind blowing. Drowning in glory does not suck at all.

Always remember that these are the Good Old Days of Boston sports; soak up every second of it folks, we aren't likely to see a run of success across all 4 sports like this again.

Between here and everywhere.
On Marchand - had Tim Thomas not been TOM FUCKING THIMAS these playoffs - you could have made an argument for Marchand for the playoff MVP.

He may not have won, but it'd be a tossup between him, Bergeron, and Krejci.

Vancouver mayor just did a press conference. No talk by him or reporters of any fatalities. I hope the report you referenced was inaccurate.

Here
Just had the craziest time after the Bruins won. I have pictures and videos, but I'm not sure they're safe for me to post haha.

When I grew up, Bruins were my second team. Red Sox have always been my favorite and I'm not going to feel ashamed or pretend that isn't the case. Around 2001, when I went to college, I lost a bit of contact with the team for a number of reasons. My Dad played college hockey and was captain of his team and one of my cousins played in the NHL for *GAG* the Canadiens for 7 years. It's always been in my blood, but at the same time I cannot pretend to be the diehard that maybe 7-8 of the people in here have been. First and foremost, congrats to the diehards! Second, congrats to the players, and I'm so glad that the Bruins are no longer ignored, and I hope that's the case for the NHL as well. As far as I'm concerned, the the only major sports playoffs that can compete with the NHL is the MLB.

The last 3 weeks have been, collectively, the greatest days of my life, and the Briuns have certainly played a part in that.

WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

This can probably be its own thread, but did Tim Thomas just have the greatest season of any goaltender ever ... or at least since the sticks were curved to allow for harder and higher shots?

As happy as I am that the Bruins won, I am almost as happy that the Canucks didn't. They would have been one of the most undeserving champions I've ever seen. The Bruins represented all of hockey tonight.
