Let's notch a couple of early greasy goals and put these jerks on their heels.

Dont get me wrong I hear you...but this is one situation where I truly believe it's six in one half a dozen the other type thing. There are very valid & reasonable arguments to be made for either guy starting in goal tonight. I (very slightly) lean towards wanting Ullmark in net tonight.
I don't think that starting Ullmark is a bad decision, I just think that starting Swayman is the (somewhat) better decision. Don't fix what's not broken. (And I know that they've been rotating goalies all year, but they've gotten away form that the past few games and Swayman has stood on his head.)

It would seem that way. And maybe it’s inevitable. But given that goaltending is a huge strength of this team, and they rotated all season. I’d keep doing what got them to this point, contrary to most predictions.
Sway has the series. If we advance, I give Linus a start and then see where we stand after the first two games. Even spelling a goalie for a game a series could be huge for getting some rest as you advance.
Here's the thing, the longer they go without playing Ullmark, the rustier he gets. If he goes 2 weeks without playing that's just not fair to him. So if he comes out and gives up a bunch in game 1 next series do you just say, welp, Sway is clearly better?

Plus, the last two years, it seems evident that these guys play better because they have each other. There isn't too much pressure on either - and maybe more importantly, they get plenty of rest. Now, you've eliminated both of those pieces.

I don't like this. I hope I am wrong.

Don't fix what's not broken.
See you're saying it's not broken over the last 5 games; I'm saying it's not broken over the last 176

Let's not forget that Swayman is their goalie of the future and Ullmark is likely to be jettisoned. There's value in Swayman gaining experience being "the guy" for the majority of these games -- depending on the quality of the Bs' backup going forward (Bussi?), they might not have such luxury of rotating goalies in future years.

This is a fair point and honestly one of the better reasons IMO

Sent Gorman out with a win, might as well do it with Jack too!

Edit: I'm envisioning an epic monologue where he damns the Leafs to eternal losing.
Yes while it was clearly time for him to go it is sad Jack isn't going out on his terms.
He deserves one last way over the top monologue.

Ok, No more sloppy periods of play, no more weak exits of the defensive zone, no more setting up the perfect shot. Crash the fuggin' net, get the goalie moving, and score some greasy, nasty ugly ass goals early, and shell-shock these J.A.F.O.s into submission!!! AS TB 12 was fond of saying......

LET'S
FUCKIN'
GO!!!

And peace be with you Jack as you ride off into the sunset, thanks for all the unbridled exuberance and homerism, it was fun.

I sense like 6 points for the 2nd line
From your mouth to the hockey gods' ears! That line has struggled. In the series so far, per Natural Stat Trick, DeBrusk-Zacha-Pastrnak has an xGF% of 25.23, lowest of all the lines. (Maroon-Beecher-Boqvist has an xGF% of 81.30.)

Tonight's the night that line is going to break out.

All I know is that there is still over 4.5 hours for me to flip flop on the goalie thing, so I promise you I will have at least 8 different times where I want Swayman in net tonight and potentially 9 or more times where I want Ullmark, all before puck drop.

I don't think the goalie choice matters that much. The big issues are: get the puck out of your own end without issues, don't grip your stick so much that carbon fibers start to stab you through your gloves, your best players need to show up and lead the way, and finish your chances in front of the net.

This was my thinking in requiring the rotation as well, even though Ullmark was probably playing better at the end of the year. It is a mitigating factor to my disapproval of moving away from it. Plus Swayman owning the Leaves.

I need this win as a Bruins fan. Since I graduated college 20 years ago the Bruins have given me something to look forward to every night during hockey season. Get off work and sit down and watch my favorite team playing my favorite sport. After 2019, and especially after last year, I’ve found that I don’t have that same fire for Bruins games I used to have. I still watch them all - still bite my nails - but it’s turned into something I enjoy to something I stress over - almost like I expect the collapse.

I thought they’d be fighting for a playoff spot to start the season. They overperformed. A win over Toronto, in a tough fought series, would be huge for this squad and fan base. Win tonight. Make it to the final 8. Get over that hump.

I think the game to play Ullmark, if you wanted to continue the rotation against Toronto, was Tuesday. They stuck with Sway and I think that means it has to be Sway's series barring injury. If they win the series, go back to the rotation for round 2.

Tuesday must have been "win when down 3-1" day and we all forgot to mark it on our calendar. The Leafs, 76ers and Bucks all just looked ready to go belly up in their respective sports and somehow hung on.

Today ain't that day.

For those of us with young kids, 8 pm is great. I don’t have to miss anything around bedtime. After that it’s sweet silence and alone with my couch and TV. Let’s fucking go.
For those of us with HS Juniors who have a play at 730, it’s a horrible time haha.

Why is this a good thing?
It’s not. All the talk of learning from past mistakes and they take this awesome thing they have and switch after one game (G2).

It’s funny sometimes the juxtaposition in sports, particularly male sports - all the testosterone, masculinity, toughness and then when it comes to making a decision: “if they start guy X and they lose!! Oh, the scrutiny, the questions that will be asked, gasp!”

They should have just used the rotation that got them to this point this season and set records last season and let the chips fall where they may.

THIS.

Guys c’mon, what are we talking about? Everything we need to know about the goalie situation with the Bruins is solved with the above principle.

I am convinced we will get the big W because I had a vision. Although it could've been a flashback from the big W in It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world.

One edible in, getting the smoke out. Freshened up my beer supply.

Win tonight. Tomorrow is gonna suck regardless. Make it suck less.

I had very poor time management with prepping dinner and forgot to take my gummies until just a minute ago. Need to bridge the gap with a couple hits from the pen.
