Game 6 at Toronto

This team is not a cup winning team - that’s not really the issue here in my mind. They certainly are a good enough team to win this series, and if we see a repeat of last year then that’s the referendum on Monty, full stop - as nice as the two regular seasons have been (this year was something of a pleasant surprise, to be honest) coughing up 3-1 leads twice and in the manner they have has got to be it for him. How do you get a third crack at it after two post-seasons like this (should we go out in seven again)?

Welp. I won’t be able to watch game 7. And that’s… ok.

A lot will be said about Wold, and he’s been better than Samsonov, but bruins have been outplayed the last two games. We look slow

I know this team isn’t good enough to win it all, but they have been handed a chance to win this series and have just not showed up. As long as a team shows their best effort, I’m basically cool with whatever happens, but they’re just not there right now. It’s just disappointing more than anything else.

The team's roster limitations have been badly exposed the last 2 games. They are beaten to every single loose puck due to their lack of skating speed. And no finishers near the net.
Not saying the roster is great, but they’re better than the roster the leafs have put out there the last couple games

they’re way too fucking passive for long stretches and aside from keeping Swayman in goal, Monty has made a bunch of questionable decisons

Honestly, if not for Maurice's fixation with Lyon and Keefe's fixation with Samsonov, gotta wonder if the Montgomery Bruins would ever be in a position to win a playoff series at all.

Agree with this this post. Tough game tonight and bad effort similar to last year in the first period.

Yup. This team should be playing like they can beat anyone (which they can) but they're not the favorites, i.e. "with house money." Really disappointing to see how tentative and slow they've been these past two games.

Pasta has been invisible all series
I know his playoff stats are generally fine but he’s just never going to be a guy who elevates his game in the playoffs. Looks tentative, loses the puck left and right, does little without regular season space and PP regularity. He gets paid to be a terror to opposing defenses and instead he’s out there like he’s handling a live grenade and skating in mud.

Right. It’s not like Toronto is out here blowing them away or playing shockingly good. But it’s like the Bruins came out and conceded defeat before the puck dropped two games in a row.

Bridge year. Weren’t supposed to be that great anyway. However, you CANNOT blow another 3-1 series lead….to the freaking Leafs.

The amazing thing is they’ve lucked out with either Nylander or Matthews not being available and they still can’t figure out a way

They aren’t remotely similar situations but not being able to close out a series conjures up questions for me about all the late game surrenders and overtime losses. I realize that’s probably variance more than anything, but at the same time there’s so much that we don’t do right in moments where the pressure is at it’s highest, from last year to this.

Maybe we win Saturday and the above seems stupid, but right now something seems off.

It’s this. Monty is being scapegoated to an extent because we need our pound of flesh. But Morgan Geekie is getting solid run at the end of the game. Pasta, Zacha, and Marchand have been largely invisible. I’ve liked Coyle’s play but he is what he is, a 2nd / 3rd liner. At some point the Jimmy’s and Joe’s matter.

Thought Carlo played well and had the pokecheck working overtime.

It was a very gracious and heartfelt farewell. Both he and Brick appeared to be fighting back tears. So was I.

The lack of urgency at the start of this game was inexcusable. You’re on the road against a team that’s even more mentally fragile than you. Come out with your fucking hair on fire.

This happens way too much with this franchise.

The good things: Lohrei seems to be improving, we have a major supplemental asset at goaltending that we should do anything we can to flip into a position player, and cap space.

They get here and expect the same game in May as they see in November. Yeah a lot of it is talent but we’ve seen the same shit with Bruins teams that were wildly more talented than this one.

I feel like the good news is Saturday night I can watch the 1st 5 minutes and it will tell me all I need to know as far as watching the next 55 and enjoy my Saturday night some other way.

I generally have leaned towards the fact that shit happens in the playoffs and this team isn’t great. But when you are up 3-1, you don’t have to do a ton to win a series. You’ve already done the majority of the work and have proven you can win with the horses you have. That’s why the last two games are so disappointing. We know there is better than this, specially since Toronto sans Matthews isn’t some talent juggernaut - they’ve got 3 elite players and a bunch of noise too. I like Monty because he seems like a coach I’d like to play for and a reasonable person. But this is tough to watch and their lack of finishing ability is not good. I dunno. I try to stay balanced on this stuff, but Saturday is going to be a big night.

Neither of these teams are good. The last two games were coin flips with fluky goals. Not sure what all the “fire Monty” is about. This team was never going anywhere.
