Bergy getting schooled all series by Tavares at the dot. What a disappointment.
Bergy has dominated Tavares last few games on face off, over 55% for series. Bigger issue is they do nothing with all the draws he wins.

So what, they get a tougher matchup early, while they are still at relatively full strength before the depth is tested.

Bruins didn’t play badly. What cost them the game was an 0 for 3 on the power play and a defensive breakdown against one of the best lines in the league.

If they can win game 6 I like their chances in a game 7.

They played a good lock down defensive game. If they score on the power play they win. You need to slow it down against these guys.

Huh, doesn't feel like it, though I've only really been able to watch the 3 losses. Thanks for correcting me, I will be better.

Can't figure out why they can't establish any forecheck or cycle this series. TOR strength is not their D. That said Jake Muzzin was a tremendous pick up for them and prob the difference in this series.

Exactly. Every time the Leafs get the puck, the B's back up like Oddjob when he realizes James Bond has the hat.

Didn't work for Oddjob. Not working for the Bruins.
There was one even strength sequence that made me think for a second we were short handed

That’s the weird bit - the line mixing and d-pair switching makes me think that they have significant injuries which are limiting their strategies.

No single player makes me fear this though outside of DeBrusk. Recover and win game 6 against these sacks of trash

They’re not skating with them. They’re playing conservatively to not get beat deep or give them speed through the neutral zone. I hate playing like that, they haven’t done it all year under Cassidy except when they had a lot of guys out. Which makes me think they’re really banged up.

If they still had the old formula, they’d be playing Carolina, who is currently giving the defending champions all the can handle.
It’s not just the unfairness factor - it’s boring to be some division centric

Same as mlb’s imbalanced schedule

I don’t know what goalie interference is. Not that this was. But I literally had no idea what the call would be. That’s not good for hockey.

The Leafs are impeding them on every dump in. Legally IMO, so not a big deal, but they’re doing a good job of getting layers and getting to the puck.

The crazy thing is, if Rask flopped there when he took the contact he probably gets the interference call. Which is also really bad for hockey that goalies are starting to do that now.

The way they are playing TOR is probably the best matchup for them, maybe PIT would have been better.
CAR would have skated circles around them and CBJ has a great blend of speed and strength they would struggle with not to mention an elite PK.
Bs look old and slow. I'm afraid the window is just about closed on this group. They should have lost last game and tonight was a toss up game they didn't really show up for at home.

I'm rarely in complete agreement with Mike Milbury on much of anything but I am on this; why didn't they try to replicate their compete level and physicality from game 2? They likely won't be allowed to do that in Toronto, so it was essential that they do it tonight and they played as if game 2 had never happened and shown them the way to beat this team.

Can we wait to see if they actually lose the series before we overreact?

I actually think that was the strategy for tonight. Toronto’s game is speed through the neutral zone and stretch passes, so the Bruins backed off the forecheck and tried to clog the neutral zone and get in the passing lanes. It makes for kind of boring hockey, but if the Bruins had scored on the PP or on a lucky bounce the strategy would’ve worked. But they didn’t.

The CBJ they beat 3 times in the past month or a different CBJ?

I get it’d sucks to lose in the first round. I’m frustrated for sure. But they’re playing close with one of the best teams in the league. They’ll need some luck to win this series, but they can do it

That’s what I was saying. I think that was the game plan.

So. Much. This.

Toronto has consistently out skated and out skilled the Bruins in this series, the Bs are not going to hit their way out of this, and they are fucked as a result.

As it stands currently, Calgary is gonna be out. If they hold to this 3pm EST slot it would be a darn shame.
2 O6 teams. The ONLY O6 teams to qualify, playing each other. I don't see it changing. This is by far the top match-up of the first round.

It just takes a single tip of the puck going an inch to the left instead of to the right. Hockey is a funny game that way.

Saw it in real time and then watched replays. Was wanting more of an explanation having seen the goal count in Bruins game. Baffled.

You can’t have a league where both of those plays happen in the playoffs with completely different outcomes on the same night. It’s not like there’s something tough to see on replay.

They just don’t want to overrule the refs. If the ref is adamant about sticking with the call even after they look at it, the call will stand. It’s garbage but that’s the reality. Refs egos are more important than getting it right.
