‘You should play well enough to render the officials irrelevant’ is an intellectually dishonest and/or stupid take in the championship round of a major sport.
Yeah as if gifting the other team a goal + is something you should be able to overcome.

I love the game of hockey - at all levels. I love watching college hockey (and I've seen some terrible hockey east officiating over the years). I love watching young players play - high school, youth leagues... I love watching kids just playing hockey on a pond. I even love me some youtube TV38 mini-1-on-1. I'll even occasionally watched the over 40 guys play if I'm at the rink for an earlier game.

Watching this series, is literally making me sick to my stomach. I don't know what I'm watching. That's not even counting that St. Louis legitimately doesn't even belong in the final - they were gifted multiple game turning officiating calls.

I don't know how the league thinks this is good for the game. The only people outside of St. Louis who think this is good refereeing are people who don't watch hockey - and the Sisters of the Blind who aren't known for being critical.

I just don't get it.

Edit: And as said above - the league claims the players should be protected - at a minimum from the head shots. Yet these refs aren't doing it - except for lip service. When a team plays a style the league claims is the desired way, then lets them get pounded into next week with dirty/late/high hits without putting a stop to it, it's a lousy game. Ugh

No that's pretty strong. He called them out for letting Berube dictate things.
It's the truth; their coach complained about the officiating after game three and the Blues have won the last two games.

Fucking pathetic; he whines, they win.

It's one thing to miss a call, but to miss one ten feet away right in front you is embarrassing.

What is going to be forgotten is that Berube complained after a game his team had more PP than the Bs. Just so happened the Bs went 4-4 on the PP instead of 1-5 like STL.

It’s not just that fucking trip. They picked Krug and Johansson’s heads clean with no penalty. Fuck off there too. Remember the “illegal check to the head” they called on Krejci in game 1?

Those are the two I’m more pissed off about. NHL cares about head contact expect when it doesn’t.

Plus, one of the Bruins powerplay was the failed challenge.

Krejci had to make a Ryder because a blatant arm bar led to a turnover and possession.

Typically, teams try to avoid offensive zone penalties. Committing them is the Blues’ gameplan.

I’d be embarrassed to fuck up my job this badly. I used to have rugby games that would get out of hand and dangerous like this, with no ref control and they always ended up with someone getting carried off. Because, if I’d get binned for the retaliation, my team wouldn’t miss out in the Stanley fucking Cup.

The review tonight they got wrong too. That puck was clearly in the net before the whistle. They've also missed multiple too many men on the ice tonight among all of the illegal head shots. What pissed me off is they called Marchand for a stick tap to Binnington's pads while they've gotten free reign at Tuukka all series long. Fuck these guys.

Go win a hockey game and bring it back to Boston.

It’s seriously games like this that make me glad I gave up my season tickets after 10 years. I can’t support this league. The game is obviously not on the level.

and the hold to end the 2nd period that should have also been a goal, pretty sad when headhunting doesn't even make the 2 worst calls of the game

There was also the BS call on Clifton V Tarasenko last game for hit to head that EJ Hradek admitted in pre-game was a phantom call.

Goals in this league are too precious to miss a call like that.

It’s not the NFL you can’t just take the ball the next time and march down field.

If Kelly Sutherland happens to be the only witness you’ll get away scot free.
If Sutherland is the only witness there better not be a witness. Berube only gets away with the BS because the WWE refs enable him.

Just fucking steaming thinking about how many games Marchand would be going away for if he did that same shit.

Haggerty saying that it is the Bruins fault that they didn’t take advantage of the bad officiating by committing more egregious head shots against the Blues.

Oh hey there, I can always count of Joe “How the fuck do I have a job” Haggerty to make a story more stupid.

Quick, call up Ogie Oglethorpe!

The league has overall become so much more of a skating league, and its undeniably made the game much much better. I can’t believe a relatively slow, brutish team may win the cup and the zebras are enabling them to get away with shit
Yup, you pretty much have Tarasenko, a poor man's Bergeron in RR, 1 mediocre goalie, 1 poor goalie, and 16 goons.

That’s their form statement. It was the same after the Vegas fiasco. They never ever admit to officiating gaffes. They’ll quietly apologize to the Bruins front office and ownership and probably tell the Bruins not to go public with the apology.

I love statements that merely restate what happened without making a value judgment. ‘The official didn’t call it a penalty because he didnt see evidence of a penalty.’

I guess it’s better than ‘he had money on the game’ or ‘he didn’t feel like calling any penalties’

LOL - wow - didn’t they make a statement about the Vegas 5min major?
Technically the only public statement they made about it was that the refs made a judgement call, they didn't say if it was right or wrong, but they did privately apologize to the Knights. So I guess we can look forward to that sometime next week if the Bs don't win the next 2 games.
