I know but he had space to take it to the corner and create a battle on the wall for it which could’ve ate 10-15 seconds instead of just dumping possession right back to them. It wasn’t a stupid play by any means but he had the chance to burn time there.
I agree he should have taken into the corner, but I thought he was trying to soft rim it behind the net for whoever the forward in the far corner was.
Regardless, not trying a shot was the right decision.

I don't really have a problem with what Coyle did. Made sure it got deep and changed out to get fresh legs on, better than a shot that's blocked and leads to transition. If anything I wouldn't have minded him ragging the puck back and having them work it back in but that's probably too risky too now that I'm breathing.

I thought Marchand came up big tonight as well. The goal and 2 assists plus lots of important plays down the stretch including hitting the post and knocking Hyman on his ass

Seriously. What a fucking idiot to take $40m and still be a UFA under the age of 30.
My comment was a little bit facetious. He's set for life and will get another huge deal, but he took well below market value, which we should all be thankful for.

Grzelcyk was a complete disaster tonight, I think a game in the press box would probably be good for him:

I thought Moore looked okay too...that’s a uncharacteristic brutal performance by Gryz. I thought all of the D had a tough time getting pucks out though.

Hey did anyone mention that the first goal was Charlie McAvoy, out of BU, from Charlie Coyle, out of BU, and from Matt Grzelcyk, also out of BU?
Lol at BU claiming Charlie Coyle for the 20 minutes he was on campus. Of course that era wasn’t great for ole Drunken Jack, especially off the ice, so limited options.
Well I can tell you didn’t go to BC because you would’ve led with that.
Well as a BC grad...shit. I did it again.

Krejci was a man on that last shift. Great work in tight surrounded by multiple Leafs.

Great stats there for Z...24+ minutes and a +3 with the gwg? All I noticed was that Z was battling hard all night; that’s a quietly dominant game.

There were a shit load of shots against (left side bottom) even strength in dangerous spots with basically no shots for (top charts), though he helped with McAvoy’s goal. The thing up top is basically saying Tuukka saves his bacon by making 20 faces. You want the top charts to outpace the bottom ones. A good one is that one but flipped.

Ok, so I usually don't come around to Bruins game threads until the playoffs, so can someone try to explain that chart to us hockey laymen?
On the two sheets it shows location and result of sog (color is result, and shape is type). Up top is the shots stats and a visual representation of type and result.

There’s a bunch of cool shit on that chart tho.

Edit: as kenney says.

Well, if he has time to make 20 faces like Denis Lemieux in Slap Shot, why doesn't he have time to make important saves like the four goals he gave up? #tuukkasfault

F'real, outside the first Matthews goal (which was a HORRIBLE one to let in), Rask was up to the task when a good few of his teammates weren't (looking at you, fourth line).

I thought Moore was quite bad, indecisive and weak on several clearing attempts. Him combined with Gryz were a train wreck in their own end. I'm assuming Moore's chart has to look quite similar to Gryz, D don't play by themselves out there.

I’d love to see...stats don’t tell everything but neither do the eyes obviously. I mean, no one was particularly good at getting pucks out, and I wouldn’t be surprised if your assessment on Moore was correct- I’d expect him to be a bit rusty. I thought he was moving well and was aggressive in the DZ.

Edit: quick surface stats show 11.5 minutes and a dash 2, so that’s no good.

Moore wasn’t particularly good. 9:55 TOI, 26% CF, 33% shots, 20% scoring chances for (8-2 Toronto), goals were 2-0 Toronto.

I would guess that most third D pairs on any team in the playoffs would struggle against this team. They’re really good on offense. The Bruins have to do what they did last night for the rest of the series. Play physical, finish scoring chances, get timely saves, good special teams.

The amount of nervous energy that I have left over from last night (Bs and Cs both) is unreal. I've been bouncing off the walls all day.
