That's a tough shot. He's in super tight, needs to lift it, and its rolling.

He doesn't lift it enough, it goes into Bobs pads, he lifts it just slightly too much? Crossbar.
It’s not simple but it’s also a goal that better goal scorers score.

We have but one of those on the team. And the rest are 15-25 goal guys and those are not their bread and butter.

They’re lucky to have one of those guys. Those guys usually get taken too 5. The Bruins haven’t sucked in 15 years so they don’t pick high enough.

Lauko was a good addition. They need some better wheels out there. A lineup with JVR, Brazeau and Maroon is way too slow.

I don‘t know that I buy the ”if we just play like that from the start“ stuff. Some of that was game state, down 4-0.
Yup. They are nowhere near Florida’s level when both teams are engaged. They stole one down there when Florida sat for a week and was rusty, but they’ll probably win out from there. Maybe they’ll take the foot off the gas in game 4 or 5 for a game but this goes no more than 6 unfortunately. They had to suck for years and make two or three great trades to build that team, but this is the trade off.

Some late life. But that start tonight. Just brutal.
It wasn’t just the start. It was most of the first 40 minutes. The only time that the Bruins put together consecutive shifts of sustained pressure, any potential momentum was negated by the Panthers being awarded a four-minute power play for gingivitis. Two would be too many players that simply cannot play at the pace that playoff hockey demands and Monty dressed a whole handful.

I've been Sway all the way, and he isn't the problem, but I'd give Ullmark a shot on Sunday. Maybe he can steal one, 2-1 or something.

Yea, I go with Ullmark as well. If he doesn't have it, then Swayman will be rested and reset for Game 5.

It's gotta be Ully in G4. Swayman is absolutely gassed from carrying this shit team. Not his fault at all, he's been great, but I think they need to give him a break.

Yeah, I was a big fan of his hiring when he arrived, but this is twice now where the playoffs come, & he seems ill-prepared.

But as mentioned previously upthread by others, I'm not so sure the problem w/r/t officiating reactions is him, as Julien & Cassidy played the same card as Montgomery.

So I'm led to think it's Neely &/or Sweeney behind this. And I think we'll continue to experience this ridiculous officiating until Marchand retires or is traded.

It might be until someone else other than Neely is running the show.

FFS are you serious? Please explain how that was dirty

This is the dumbest take I've seen around here and I try not to let bad takes bother me
I’d want to see another angle before making a declarative statement, but it looks like Bennett stuffed the butt end of his stick into Marchand’s face.

Ummmm what? His free hand makes contact with Marchands face not his stick hand. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that hit at all.

You are blind, look at his right hand. He punches his head with the butt of his stick. It’s clear as day. The left comes nowhere near his head, it’s near his ribs. It’s a scumbag hit.

Focus on his right hand. He jacks him with it/his stick. Free hand hits Marchand’s side, it comes nowhere close to his head. Look at the first angle, it is very obvious once you are looking in the right place.

He’s got the stick in his right hand when it appears to make contact with Marchand’s face. Again, I’d like to see another vantage point before making a definitive statement.

I've watched it probably a dozen times now, it doesn't. It's below his chin.

I've watched it a dozen times, it doesn't hit his face, you're seeing what you want to see. The hit is fine.

Is Bennett going to get suspended? That was dirty as fuck. He should sit the rest of the series:

I think you are right.

If you watch the video at 1/4 speed and then pause through the 9 second mark, you can see that Bennett really extends, unnaturally, with his right arm, punching forward and you see Brad's face snap to the left off the hit.

I remain agnostic on the issue of if, at the 11 second mark, what we see is him repositioning the stick in his hand so the butt end is no longer exposed.

There’s nothing unnatural about the extension. His body is moving forward. His left shoulder hits Marchand and stops moving forward. His right shoulder doesn’t and keeps moving forward. It’s simple momentum.

Agreed. Let Ullmark hopefully steal one in G4 and then you have Sway for the final 3.

I can’t tell from the video where the hand is for sure, but in real time I thought he extended it as a follow through punch. On replay, it sure does look like he’s throwing that hand forward even before he makes contact, sort of ruining the momentum argument. He does look right at the ref or linesman right there immediately after doing it, expecting a call, too.

Normal momentum and his stick is facing downward. The only way it ends up facing the ceiling there, which it does, is with a punching motion. He also changes his height

Does this help?

Now I guess we argue intent.

Momentum seems out the door, because his right hand ends up in front of his left shoulder.
