Guys, I’m concerned about the first line. There’s only one puck and too many chances.

Edit: Props to the guy that gave me and my friends a pitcher after the 2nd. I like to think it was because of my great explanation of the offsides challenge. Or he was leaving and I was near. But definitely the former.

NBCSN ran a 30:30 type on Derek Sanderson after the game.
As some one born in the 80s who saw grainy clips and read about the early 70S Bs it is a fascinating story.
Ya kinda see the 2 Stanleys w Orr Esposito et al and then his broadcasting and some positive stuff and are like cool, good dude.
But the stories about his addiction etc etc are wild.

Probs not the right forum but wasnt sure where else to go.

That was quite an answer by the Bruins tonight, the first line got rolling, the power play got rolling too, Rask was nails once again as he's been all playoffs long.

I don't get the way the Blues approach the game, the goonery, the cheap shots after the whistle, makes no sense to me, not the way the game should be played, but I guess that's what you do when you know you're not going to match up talentwise.

And their goalie; holy crap, he's been hot garbage all series long, he looks defeated after every goal, getting yanked is never a good thing.

A great feeling to have home ice back...………...I fully expect the Blues to come out Monday like their hair is on fire and play balls to the wall like they did in game two and gee, those poor Blues fans, all geeked up and wow did the Blues lay an egg tonight, a total no show...…………….it's on to game four, survive them storming the castle in the first period and go from there.

What a great effort tonight, they are on another level from a skill/talent standpoint, the Blues can't hang with them and they know it, thus the goonery. The Blues scored two of the flukiest goals I've ever seen tonight, one clanged off of two skates and trickled in, the other bounced off of a Bruin and flopped into the net, the Bruins goals were things of beauty. These teams are on two levels talentwise and it's not even close.

I’m starting to pick up a little pattern here. In Game 1, the Bruins were a vastly superior team to St. Louis, despite taking the first 22 minutes off. In Game 2, the Blues were vastly superior, mainly because the Bruins were short a defenceman for the last 46 minutes. Game 3, Bruins vastly superior.

The results? When Boston shows up, they’re winning pretty easily. When St. Louis shows, aided by an injury leaving the Bruins short handed, the Blues can eke out a tight, nerve wracking win.

I think one team’s clearly better. Do it again Monday so we get a chance to party Thursday.

Glad to read that McAvoy is 'fine.'

I do worry that St Louis is such a bunch of goons that it would be impossible to beat them in, say, an 11 game series just because of the attrition. There is a point where 'old school' hockey is not what is happening, and they are just acting like a bunch of hooligans out there. Seems like a team for Kadri to go to next year.

When I was a kid, my Dad played in a softball league as a member of the Boston Police team, Daisy Buchanans was the sponsor, ,they wore black and yellow shirts with Daisy Buchanans across the front, a Bruins log on one sleeve and the BPPA logo on the other.

After the games on Sundays, we'd go to the bar and I'd hang out with my Dad and the players, Derek would be there, there would always be various Bruins players there as well, I had a 1970 Bruins yearbook with every players autograph, that disappeared when my Dad passed away a few years ago, pretty sure my oldest brother took it.

As a 10 year old kid, they were Gods to me, Derek always treated me great, as did the other players.

My Dad had a few cookouts in the Summer at our old house on Spring Street in West Roxbury, Bruins players would come to them all the time and just hang out; it would be them and numerous Boston Police officers all enjoying each others company, it was a special time in my life, Esposito and Hodge were my two favorite Bruins, they were very good to me, they all were, but them especially.

Hockey players are pro athletes like no other, I loved that team of the 1970's and have loved the Bruins ever since.

@54thMA, do you mind if I break that out? Worthy of its own topic, absolutely tremendous.

On a lighter note, here's this gem, stolen from today's Cubs broadcast:

Perron must have been watching a bunch of Pierre-Luc Dubois film. It seems like the only thing he's doing on the ice is making contact with Rask and taking dumb penalties.

When I saw the ref come in and point I thought Perron was getting a 10m misconduct.

Seriously though if this were the regular season I'd expect Acciari would be out there rearranging his face. Really hope the refs clean this garbage around Rask up.

Interview with Rask after the game, interviewer asked what Perron was saying to him after one of the brouhahas. Rask said Perron accused him of flopping. “Were you?” “No.” This St. Louis team, you could really justify taking out a contract on some of them.

You all realize you're watching hockey and not soccer right? The complaining about the physical play is exhausting, this is what makes hockey great. Let them act like goons, the Bruins will keep putting up 7 spots on them.

I'm loving this series, it has it all.

Good God, if the one player on your team that’s been to the SCF is busy running the other team’s goalie to get back after perceived flops, just hand said other team the Cup.

I thought it absurd the guy accusing Rask of flopping. Just play the game. Maybe this is the way hockey is. I will still thoroughly enjoy putting the goon squad away on Thursday.

I agree with you except for the Sunkist (sic) hit on Gryz, the Blais launch on Backes, and the Schenn near miss on Pasta that, if he’d connected, would have scrambled Pasta’s brain for the foreseeable future, but instead left Schenn imitating Greg Louganis missing the water and hitting the pool deck.

Edit: Oh, and maybe the Pietralangelo Zorro imitation on Acciari.

The Schenn attempted hit has no place in hockey, I agree with that. It should be an automatic 2 minutes in the box (if not 5) if you leave the ice attempting to hit another player (whether successful or not). They need to get that shit out of the game, nothing good ever comes from a player launching himself into another player.

Small world-ish. My dad played on a pretty competitive softball team from New Hampshire. I remember him taking me to one of his team’s tournaments in MA—teams from all over New England competed. Sanderson played on one of the MA teams. He rolled up to the field in a Corvette or Camaro (can’t recall which—long time ago), smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer. I remember the beer and cigarette like it was yesterday.

You probably know he scored the tying touchdowns for both the Rams in SB 36 and the Panthers in SB 38 before Vinatieri won it.
I didn’t mean “shown up” in the SBs. I meant “shown up” before the Bs’ series against Carolina and St Louis. Awkward phrasing, I know.
