First of all, don't believe in league conspiracy theories. A bunch of executives are going to conspire with a bunch of referees when the stakes at hand are only congressional hearings, jail time, lawsuits, and the survival of the league itself? Because if it was ever proven that any league tried to get their own refs to influence the outcome of a game....it's league goodnight.

Further, if the NHL had their way, why would they chose Florida over Boston, when Boston draws many more eyeballs. Not to mention, why would the NHL want the series to end faster? If anything, the NHL wants every series going seven games.

All that said, the Bennett goal should have been overturned.
It doesn’t make sense.. but Florida has had a ton of penalty minutes this series on really suspect calls and have gotten away with a ton this series. The bruins are a flawed team but Florida isn’t that much better.. but they’re being allowed to do some downright dirty shit during this series and beyond not getting called for it.. it’s actually benefitting them.

Bruins should just push Florida defenders into the goalie all game five and make this joke league make the hypocrisy obvious.

Yep there are two different but related things

1. Bruins had chances to get a third goal and didn’t capitalize. Debrusks five hole shot that went wide is probably exhibit A.

2. Bruins got jobbed for sure on that play, it’s a hit by Bennett caused Coyle to interfere with Swayman.

If just one of those things happens, I like our chances. Both happening is too hard for this team to overcome.
3. The initial penalty was a complete dive off of benign contact called by officials who were keyed up to call anything they could to “keep control” (probably so no one got sucker punched and concussed or anything. Gotta prevent that shit). There was a similar dive on Pasta’s punch in the head early in the game (which happens semi-regularly in after-whistle scrums), and on a love tap to the back of someone’s legs in Game 2, and several other times.

There has to be a boston sports writer with access to all the playoff video that can show all of the disallowed goals this year in the playoffs so far, and there have been several. Where there is far less contact and they've been called "no goal". Not that it would change anything really, but it would just be fun to see all of them. Especially if they can pair it up with situation room explanation as to why "no goal" was called.

Even the official line from the NHL isn't that there wasn't contact, their line is it didn't stop Swayman from playing the puck. There is a reason why Coyle, Sway, and Pasta keep repeating that line in their post game pressers. It's what they were told by the officials.

It's literally a "that's not a dog pissing on your leg in the middle of the sahara during a super drought, it's rain" type level of lie.
Yeah this league would call goalie interference for the right team if they could confirm that an 8 out of 10 or higher was sitting in the goalie’s line of sight. No leg to stand on.

Here
Hell, they called interference for a defender shoving a player into his own goalie in Game 3!

Aftwr sleeping on it, the entire PP series (initial call + lack of overturn) clearly cost them the game, but they had the chances to put it away earlier and they didn’t finish. The DeBrusk five hole that went wide in the one that stings the most, because you beat the goalie and just had to slide the thing in and you put in just wide. Score there and none of this matters. Look, they are not a great team and they haven’t played their best, but I thought they had a real chance for most of that game to head back to Florida 2-2, and then who know what happens in a 3 game series. They clearly got hosed, but their lack of finishing is the only reason why that PP mattered. And I don’t think they have the horses to win 3 straight now.

This exactly. Shot attempts are 304 to 175 for the series in Florida's favor, and power play shot attempts are 79-23 for Chrissakes. Yet the Bruins have 7 5x5 goals to Florida's 8.

I would have liked to see what the Bruins could have done with a 2-1 lead in the final 18 minutes of the game. The Bruins played a good second period — their xGF% in the period was 68.62%. Swayman's save percentage for the series is .918 to Bobrovsky's .883.

And don't forget the bizarre interference call against Lindholm that led to the no-goal that went up on the scoreboard for Florida.

Yeah, they may have lost Game 4 anyway without the Lindholm call and the no-goal goal, but I would have liked to have seen how the game played out without the hindering ineptness of Frederick L'Ecuyer, Francis Charron and the stooges in Toronto.

I think the Lindholm call was OEL hitting himself with his own stick as he tried to drive on the net. OEL lifted his stick and Lindholm made contact with him while OEL’s stick was up by his face, giving himself a ricochet shot. OEL sold it and he did get hit by something. It was just himself. There wasn’t a good replay so could be wrong there but that was my impression when watching live.
