Dontari Poe to the Panthers, which gives me an excuse to post the best touchdown in the entire history of the NFL.
Four, I believe, but could be mistaken.Mentioned in the McCourty thread -- it's interesting how the Pats additions so far this signing season (Burkhead, Shelton, McCourty) have not included any new free agents. Two trades and a re-sign. Clearly they're looking to maximize the compensatory draft capital they should be picking up next year for the losses of Dion, Solder, Butler and Amendola.
Is there a limit on how many compensatory picks they can add?
A single team can only earn a maximum of four comp picks. If they would have earned five, the least valuable pick is lost. For example, if a team qualifies for 3, 4, 4, 5, & 6 in comp picks, they would be awarded 3, 4, 4 & 5.Four, I believe, but could be mistaken.
This could be over thinking it. They also just may not have found their desired mix of need, value and fit among their free agents and others. This is hardly the first year that theyve been quiet for the first few days of free agency. I’m sure comp picks are seen as a positive but id suspect it’s the more straightforward reason before assuming they are playing 3D chessMentioned in the McCourty thread -- it's interesting how the Pats additions so far this signing season (Burkhead, Shelton, McCourty) have not included any new free agents. The deal only being three years might be the best part for Cousins. Getting three years guaranteed isn't really that impressive; most QB contracts that are five years or whatever are essentially uncuttable in the first three. But if Cousins plays well he sets himself up for another big payday in three years, instead of being locked in to whatever he signed now.More on the Cousins fully guaranteed contract. It also includes no-trade and no-use-of-transition-tag provisions.

Nice to see players use leverage effectively.
This surprises me. Ebron's got some positive qualities but his hands are not of them and usually that's a no-no for Belichick.Eric Ebron is headed to Carolina tomorrow then Colts on Sunday but also may be visiting Foxboro per Adam Schefter.
He's still very young and still has the vast potential that he had coming out of UNC. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good. I'm not sure of his football intelligence level and that's key as we saw with Allen this year. This surprises me. Ebron's got some positive qualities but his hands are not of them and usually that's a no-no for Belichick.
They traded for Dwayne Allen last year. Great HandsThis surprises me. Ebron's got some positive qualities but his hands are not of them and usually that's a no-no for Belichick.
Fair, but they stopped throwing to Allen for that reason. They stop throwing to Ebron, he's doing zilch because he's not a blocker. They traded for Dwayne Allen last year. Great Hands
I didn’t think they got Allen to throw much to him. Bill value blocking at the TE position pretty highly. Allen was never a great catcher of the football.Fair, but they stopped throwing to Allen for that reason. They stop throwing to Ebron, he's doing zilch because he's not a blocker.
Not necessarily. I think they'll cut Allen before Gillislee.Would have to imagine they cut Gillislee if they sign Hill right?
All they need now is Gio to shake loose this offseason to complete the 2016 trifecta of the Bengals backfield

Can Grant file a grievance? Not only did he not get the deal but the failed physical will greatly reduce his offers going forward. Kid got screwed.Grant to Baltimore off; failed physical.

Really, it’s buyer’s remorse. Ravens spit the bit when Crabtree shook free. Shady maneuver.
Team doctors can find “something” in almost any physical for a football player. Their bodies are pretty ravaged after a few years in the league. Most of the time, these physicals are basically mere formalities unless the player had a recent significant injury. Why is this failed physical any different than any other?
Wow, more than Ebner got.
Big $. Also this helps the Pats with regard to comp picks. They can now sign someone and not fear losing one of the 2019 picks, I believe.
Really good ST guy but that missed tackle on Agholor on 3rd down after the momentum was switching to us will bother me forever.

Makes sense. Bigger RB, and if I remember correctly, was a target of theirs back in the draft.

Likely because he can also play some DB. Ebner isn't getting on the field except for ST.Wow, more than Ebner got.
I still have the same thoughts! What's aggravating is I think he is a good tackler, but was trying to force a fumble instead of playing the situation...Really good ST guy but that missed tackle on Agholor on 3rd down after the momentum was switching to us will bother me forever.
Yep, I said at the time that was the play where the game was lost. If the D got off the field on that drive the Patriots take the lead the ensuing drive and everything changes.Really good ST guy but that missed tackle on Agholor on 3rd down after the momentum was switching to us will bother me forever.
This is why the rumored trade to the Raiders broke apart according to Ian Rapaport.
Color me SHOCKED
Not sure how much it matters. Bademosi can at least play some CB, not just special teams, whereas if you see Slater on the field before 4th down it’s usually not good. I think that makes Bademosi more valuable.Matthew Slater hasn't signed yet, right? Does the Bademosi deal cost the Pats a few extra bucks?
Just tell yourself they would have gone for it on fourth and converted easily. That's what I do. Probably true, too.Really good ST guy but that missed tackle on Agholor on 3rd down after the momentum was switching to us will bother me forever.
Is he healthy? I feel like this guy is the NFLs version of Mr Glass.CB Delvin Breaux is in Foxboro today for a visit. per Ian Rapaport.
That has to crush a person. Agree to a $24 million dollar offer and now it's gone. Ugghh!A second former Washington player fails his physical. Bashaud Breeland signing with the Panthers canceled.
Why do you forZakim?I’d jump off a bridge if they sign him.
