Yeah guys like this aren’t who we want to lock up. We want flexibility to move for Beal or to clear space in the summer for Beal.
Celtics are having a great free agency by this metric. Let everyone else sign long-term deals for mediocre players that hurt their cap before the ink dries.

Other Stein stuff:

David Nwaba 3/$15m with Rockets & Mavs expected to sign Reggie Bullock.

I don't feel like grabbing tweets, but Woj's last 2 are:

Jeff Green to Nuggets, 2/$10m & Moe Harkless back to Kings for 2/$9m.

& the most recent Shams Bomb is Sterling Brown to Mavericks for undisclosed terms.
Green is a nice deal

More from Woj:

Korkmaz back to 76ers for 3/$15m &
Trent Jr back to Raptors for 3/$54m &
Zach Collins to Spurs for 3/$22m.

Zach Collins got $20MM for 3yrs.

Portis just gifted the Bucks a season
Yup, obviously a good deal, but obviously it would be an even better deal without the player option, so just wanted to point it out for completeness.

Wayne Ellington also going to the Lakers on a 1 year deal (Haynes).

They're doing more than I thought they'd be able to...

Ellington is a career 38% 3 point shooter, & shot 42% last year on super high relative volume (9.8/36 minutes).

Man, how far have LBJ and the Unibrower fallen when they can't even land decent ring chasers?

So, who has money left for Fournier?
Knicks & Spurs seem like the main 2. Oh, + Mavericks.

The teams that are resigning their own with bird rights aren't eating into their space because they can process those transactions last.

Celts talent drain continues—-but that Fournier contract just doesn’t fit Celts picture given he can’t defend at all. At least, if it is real 4/78 mil….if there’s a lot of bonuses and team options the. It is a lot closer call

Can’t criticize trying for Lonzo and keeping 22 options open rather than matching that offer. Time to look to bargain bin and internal development

Team option pretty nice for the Knicks. 3/50-60M for Fournier isn't a terrible deal.

Duncan Robinson just got 90M

In fairness to others, we have a great advantage in that Beal gave us an obvious target for our fan base to buy into.

I wonder if the Knicks realize that resigning all their current players (add Rose @ 3/$43m per Woj) & adding Fournier won't actually make them a particularly good basketball team.

A lot of the frustration here and elsewhere assumes the Celtics aren't privy to information on Beal. I'm sure through Tatum they know exactly what Beal intends or if he doesn't.

This isn't a Kyrie situation where you're dealing with a headcase and narcissist who's promised something he never really intended. Beal is a normal guy who likes to play basketball and win. It all looks to me look like PBS and co know exactly what they're hunting for.

And they lost Bullock.

On the one hand, I’m perfectly fine with letting Fournier go. I don’t see him as a difference maker, and I can’t see the C’a spending that kind of change on him.

On the other hand, it’s a bummer that this is the end of the line with the Heywird experience. At least I can still dislike Kyrie.

Did you forget about Richardson?

If the Wizards will listen.
At some point they are going to have to listen to someone. We have a head start in trying to get something done once their season ticket sales push is over and before the other teams focus on next season.

The Wizards have a new coach for whom Beal may find he really likes playing. I don't expect Washington to make much noise this season, but stranger things have happened, and it sounds like they're trying to add Dinwiddie.

There are going to be other Fournier-like players we can spend our cap space on next season if need be.
