This is very sad. I recall my dad telling me stories of him when I was a very young lad.

He was the main reason the Celtics won the 1962 championship which set the tone for soooo many Celtics finals wins over the Lakers.
He was the driving force in overtime after Selvy (he scored 100 in a college game) missed a 15 footer. I can still see it. Ramsey became a fan favorite from then on.

Cool video of the second half of that game, with a bonus intro by a young Johnny Most:

I forgot that he got to the Celtics before Russell. Also “waiting for Bill” were Cousy, Sharman, Loscutoff and others. I think Ramsey’s favorite shot was a one hander at the top of the key. RIP Kentucky Colonel.

Thank you, thank you. I watched that in 62 as I was glued to the TV. Not much televised stuff back then.
GREAT video, thanks again. It really brings back memories.

Glad you liked it! If you find any video of the overtime, feel free to share it here as well!
