Brandon Spikes has emerged from the cone of silence that normally surrounds the New England Patriots. It appears he has some things to say.
The linebacker recently signed a free-agent contract with the Buffalo Bills and, on Wednesday, decided to light a match underneath the Bills-Patriots rivalry.

If he posted this to tweak the Patriots fans on Twitter that have been sending him obscene messages since he signed with Buffalo, then it worked. I don't think he seriously believes he was a slave, but he knew it would piss off the trolls. He's trolling the trolls.

Warning to any players at this years Halloween party.  Take BB's costume, wind up in Buffalo.

I hope he's on the field for plenty of 3rd downs next year.

I hope he spends more time in the off-season working out and less time acting like a jilted teenager on Twitter.

You might be giving him too much credit.

Yawn. I mean, seriously, who is really going to remember Brandon Spikes in 10 years given all the great players who have come through Foxboro in this era? I really feel nothing but indifference when he acts out.

I really hope we don't end up with a whole bunch of Ohio State kids because of Urban Meyer. This Florida connection has been pitiful. There is no one left, three second rounders and Hernandez.

Even his sex tape isn't memorable. Since 2001, the Bills have won 3 games against the patriots in about 30 games. Is there any team in NFL history with a 3-27 record against a divisional opponent? He thought Foxboro was boring...

I actually look forward to the lunatic being able to post without adult supervision.  We may get some really great JFK, Alien, Creationist/Dinosaur, Patriots conspiracy theories.

Isn't this dumbfuck aware that there are about 20 NFL teams looking at this and going "yeah, this guy isn't good enough to make this shit worth it", right now? The 4 years a slave thing was already ridiculous, but without the BB gag order, I'd wager there's more bullshit coming in the future.

I like this guy a lot. Not afraid to reference a movie title because it will potentially upset some people. The world needs more Brandon Spikeses.

Let the false-hate from the masses fuel you, Brandon.

I don't think anyone hates him.

I just don't think he realizes how shitty his new team is.

Plenty of people hate him, if twitter is any indication. Lot of vitriol over a joke as if Spikes is saying he was literally kunta kinte. This sport needs more shit talk, anyway. Especially from guys on teams with no real shot.

For me, this is a case of "He's an asshole, but he's our asshole". Now that he's not our asshole, he's back to being just an asshole.

I liked him when he was filling our A and B gaps. I don't like him so much after the slavery tweet. 3+ million over 4 years? That's not exactly plantation pay. By the time he leaves the NFL, he'll be taking shots at Buffalo, the league, and Goodell.

Eh. Perhaps it's people with too much time on their hands, just like Spike. He wants a reaction, some people like to engage.

Perhaps the "vitriol" is served up in much the same vein the slavery talk is.

Maybe. I thought his tweet pretty funny honestly. Maybe just refreshing in the sense that almost no pro athletes have much negative to say about former teams, and especially, fans. I like it. Fun player to watch and follow.
