Chris Martin signed with the Rangers for 5.5M last night, Sox and others reportedly offered way more for his last year but he understandably wants to finish his career at home.
Saw this this morning as well
Glad for him, playing at home and doing what he wants for his likely final year
We should all be so lucky

I am not sure where to post this question so will post it here. Where is Nick Pivetta going to land? The QO has wrecked his market it seems.

I don't think you can read much into his status yet. The next wave of starter signings is likely waiting for the Roki Sasaki decision.

Garrett Cooper feels like just another in a long line of nondescript guys who played 1b for the Sox for a very brief amount of time.

Carlos Pena, Adam LaRoche, Sean Casey, Rico Brogna, JT Snow, Eric Hinske, Casey Kotchman, James Loney, Eric Hosmer…
You left out my fave - Morgan "brick shit-house" Burkhart!

Pena had a pretty good career! 18.8 career fWAR is good for a first baseman. He had a 5.9 fWAR season the year after we had him languishing in AAA. Obviously with Youk, Lowell, and Ortiz, there wasn't much room for him... don't know if anyone could have predicted what he did for the Rays, and Youk had the better career in the end.

Nats sign Franchy Cordero

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/nationals-sign-franchy-cordero-to-minor-league-contract.html

Cordero hit .217/.283/.395 with 27 home runs over 797 PA and 251 games with the Padres, Royals, Red Sox, and Yankees from 2017-23. Despite the lack of production, it was easy to see why so multiple teams kept taking chances on Cordero, as his power potential, exit velocity numbers, and plus speed gave the impression that a breakout was just around the corner. However, Cordero’s 34.9% career strikeout rate minimized his impact, as pitchers were often able to turn Cordero’s aggressive approach at the plate into a minus rather than a plus.

Yeah, most of those guys had really good careers….just not much production with the Sox.

He was awesome and deserves it. I remember watching him pitch in the Cape league in 1992 and he was one of those guys who you said “yep he’s gonna be a pro”. My dad made me go to a Brewster game specifically to watch him pitch.

Edit: I still have his autograph on a 1992 roster book95090

Agreed, very deserving.
And that is a cool autograph piece. I can't imagine that there are many, if any, other Wagner autographs on Cape Cod League rosters still out there.
