I actively did not want the Red Sox to re-sign JBJ but then I see highlights like this and wish he was still out in CF

I feel the same and then I looked to see that he's has a lower BA than Franchy while his salary pretty much covers Verdugo, Renfroe, Kike', Cordero and Duran. Loved watching Bradley patrol center field, but the Sox are going to be fine without him.

This isn't that helpful. I would love to see how many runs he is saving, but May is the busiest time in the garden and I'm not sure I have the smarts to do it, anyway.
We could look at WAR to judge the whole package. He's currently at -0.1 WAR (B-Ref) for the Brewers. Meanwhile the Red Sox outfielders have the following WAR: Renfroe 0.8, Hernandez 0.7, Verdugo 0.6, Cordero -0.4. Guess we could say he'd be a net gain in place of Franchy, but realistically, it's Hernandez and Renfroe that are filling the space that JBJ would be in.

I miss JBJ too, and was an advocate for bringing him back, but the Red Sox aren't really suffering without him.

Kevin Pillar got hit directly in the face with a fastball tonight. I didn't insert the video into the post because it's graphic, so if you are squeemish with blood don't click. Not a very likable person, but you wouldn't wish that on anybody. Hope the recovery process isn't too awful for him.

That’s a different Mark Melancon I see on the highlights, right?
In a 12-season career, his season in Boston was by FAR his worst -- he had an ERA+ of 68. The only other seasons he's had an ERA+ under 100 were his second year in the bigs, when he sucked for the MFY and then was lights-out for the Astros (he wound up with a 99 ERA+) and his first year in SF after signing that big contract (96 ERA+).

Happy to see Kimbrel turn it around. Has a 0.75 ERA, 41 Ks, 8 BBs through 24 innings.

Sad to see that he basically lost four years. Definitely rooting for him as well.
