Moncada 3-4 with a HR so far today. I do kind of hope he turns into a good ballplayer, two good teams in Chicago would be good for baseball

Another HR today. And he's only whiffed four times in 21 plate appearances.
Moncada responsible for four earned today. Chicago radio announcers are giddy about him. It was a fun game, with Seattle wunderkind Beckham making four errors. Guess he wore himself out killing the Red Sox.

Ryan Lavarnway (NYY) homered off Clay Buchholz (TOR) in AAA this afternoon.

Buchholz pitches well in his debut with the Blue Jays, going up against Blake Snell, throwing 6 strong with no walks and only 1 run allowed. BJ 3 Rays 1

Why can't we get starting pitchers like that

Dodgers vs. Brewers. 0-0 after 5 innings. Old friend Matt Albies relieves starter Zach Davies in the 6th. Gives up 3 runs in the inning including 2 HR by Bellinger and Muncy.

Exiled
DFA'ed the day after becoming a naturalized citizen. Ouch.

He's 35 and he's terrible at the plate for the past long while. Unless someone thinks they know how to fix him, hard to see him making an MLB roster right now.

Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't give him a little more rope. Utility infielder Max Moroff is the one who just became irrelevant with the activation of Lindor, and he's so overmatched there's no way anyone would claim him right now. Ramirez not hitting just fits in with the rest of the team, his two home runs were scorched, and he looked better again earlier this week after he took extra batting practice to focus on using the whole field. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised since every move the Indians have made since last October has been to save money.

Yesterday, ex-Sox Blake Swihart pitch hit for the Diamonbacks, and got a single! He went 1 for 1 with a run and an rbi.

The ball might have gone 25 feet. The bases were loaded and the pitcher tried for a force at home but the runner beat the throw. But it looks like a line drive in the box score.

Let's hope Anderson goes to a different doctor this time, since this article notes the following:

It seems his replacement ulnar collateral ligament blew out at the point of the graft.
That doesn't happen too often, I don't think. DRS, any insight?

Giants at Jays starting in less than an hour is Pomeranz vs Buchholz, okay, I can't resist calling it the Pomeranian vs I am an idiot.

That's too bad about Anderson Espinoza. When/if he returns, it will be 4+ years since he pitched last.

Was trying to think of other guys who've had 2 UCL surgeries. Eovaldi is one, but IIRC they were spaced reasonably far apart timewise.
Not a complete list, think there's a few others, but...

Chris Capuano
Eric f'n Gagne
Brian Wilson
Al f'n Reyes
Josh Johnson
Todd Coffey
Edinson Volquez
Kris Medlen
Randy Wolf
Tyler Yates
Jason Frasor
Jason Isringhausen (3)
Johnny Venters (3)
Joel Hanrahan
Victor Zambrano
Brandon Beachy
Rubby De La Rosa
Joe Nathan
Joey Devine
Hong-Chih Kuo
Daniel Hudson
Mark Wohlers
Jacob Lindgren
Jose Rijo

You can search thru the list here and guys with more than 1 date listed had more than one TJ surgery: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_baseball_players_who_underwent_Tommy_John_surgery

Jason Isringhausen, Josh Johnson, and Jonny Venters had 3. Venters made it back to the majors last year.

The list is not pretty. Here's hoping Espinoza can beat the very long odds and have a major league career.

Lester, Beckett, Millar and Lackey won about $26,000 (total) with the Derby win.
Lester had the pick and the guys split two $200 winning tickets. Per Millar on IT yesterday.

Bobby Jenks won a $5.1 million settlement against MLB for injuries related to a surgery he underwent there. He plans to use part of the proceeds to spread awareness of concurrent surgeries, which played into the harm he suffered.
Against Mass General Hospital, not MLB. When you said concurrent surgeries, I thought you meant he had two procedures done at once, but it's actually that his surgeon was overseeing a separate surgery during his operation. That seems pretty insane to me, but then I also wouldn't be surprised if it happens a lot.

Looks like he's just being too accurate. Not a bad K-BB ratio.

In my half-ass Internet research, it seems it is relatively routine.

His manager didn't play along, so he ends up looking really stupid. Just apologize and move on.

Can't believe they threw Ian a breaking ball given his total lack of batspeed. He should have been thanking the pitcher rather than cursing the crowd.
