If we're talking about any random kid, I see your point.  If we're talking about a Heisman Trophy winner at a D I school who escaped rape charges because the local police force and school administration moved heaven and earth to prevent prosecution, things are a bit different.

It's one thing to do stupid shit because you are young.  It's quite another to know that you are subject to extreme scrutiny and then you just go ahead and do stupid shit anyway.  You know, like putting on your pads and warming up with your team on national television after you've already been told you will not be dressing for the game....

This is an entitled asshole who believes that rules simply do not apply to him.
Not sure whether to shake my head or clap my hands . . .

Just to be clear, the sexual assault allegation is a huge caveat there.  All I'm saying is that if you look at the rest of that list, there is basically nothing there that would concern me even when taken in totality.  He's just apparently a dumb college kid, who happens to be in the spotlight.  I just went back and looked at the crab legs incident and apparently, he "forgot" to pay for them even though he paid for other items.  He went back and picked up his order and then walked out of the store.  Apparently, he was charged with stealing soda because he was messing around and putting soda into one of those little ketchup cups.
Random college-age white kid in Tallahassee, Florida, or random college-age black kid in Tallahassee, Florida?

You forgot the BB gun fight, which deprived a house of most of its windows. Which made me laugh.

But here's the point -- would you have turned the keys to an NFL franchise over to yourself?

At this point, that to me is almost inconceivable. And these days you don't burn a pick near to the top of the NFL draft to plant a guy on the bench.
Unless you are the Jaguars.

Jimbo said today that the uniform mishap was a "miscommunication" resulting from equipment being laid out on Friday before the full game suspension came down. So again, not the kids fault...He merely put on what they laid out.

I'm really starting to feel for the kid. FSU really messing him up with all these mixed messages.

So now Winston is going to be suspended for selling his signature?

Remember kids, being compensated for your signature is a far greater crime than sexually assaulting a female.

So sign some booster's cards for free and your reward is ruining the life of some poor coed!

The common ground in both instances is that the school/community has zero interest in unearthing the facts that will reveal his innocence or guilt

Mad dog was classic on the latest Winston infractions

I was listening to Jim Rome today and he made a good point. If we know about all this stuff, just imagine the crap that this loser does that never made or makes the news.... If I'm the NFL I run, not walk,  away form this guy. But somebody like Tampa Bay or Oakland will grab him.

Jameis was made to be a Jet but if the investigation by UAB results in the Feds getting involved the last thing he'll be worrying about is the NFL......ever. That's a jail sentence and no more football for you Mr. Winston.

Louisville was either +3 or +3.5 for the game. I'm waiting for one of these books to come out with the "unusual activity in the first half" announcements. Generally where there is smoke there is fire......I'd be surprised if the UAB kid is the only one involved and that this was all done over $5k. If this kid needed 5k that bad Jameis could have made a phone call to one of his FSU boosters. The TMZ guys are burning the midnight oil to get it you can bet on that.

Why would this ever happen?:

a friend of Rabb’s reached out to the bookmaker alerting him that Jameis and Rabb conspired together to win the bet.

And how they hell did these guys "confirm" any type of western union txn?

I'm fully on the F Jameis bandwagon so that he can't play in the ACC title game, which Duke will win propelling them to 11-1 and a spot in the playoff (where they will promptly lose by 60 to an SEC team), but this seems silly...

I'd like to see a betting history. If he and Winston were placing bets as a "team" and this kid was doing the heavy lifting, I'd be curious to see if they were down a substantial amount and if this bet got them out of the hole. Those screenshots seem to show they were up a bit before that bet. I could easily see a player throwing a half but not a game and it not violating his sense of morals regarding responsibility to his team. Then you throw in the variable that is JW's screwed up sense of moral, entitlement, above the law, etc. and I would not be surprised if he threw a few picks to get the first half score right for the bet.

I'm with you here.

I can't say enough bad things about Jameis Winston, but the gambling story seems preposterous on its face for any number of reasons.  Unless more detail emerges and is confirmed by other sources, I can't imagine this will get any traction.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 5, as this college town was celebrating another big football victory by Florida State University, a starting cornerback on the team drove his car into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by a teenager returning home from a job at the Olive Garden.
Both cars were totaled. But rather than remain at the scene as the law requires, the football player, P. J. Williams, left his wrecked vehicle in the street and fled into the darkness along with his two passengers, including Ronald Darby, the team’s other starting cornerback.
The Tallahassee police responded to the off-campus accident, eventually reaching out to the Florida State University police and the university’s athletic department.
By the next day, it was as if the hit and run had never happened.

Mr. Williams eventually returned to the scene. But Tallahassee officers did not test him for alcohol. Nor did their report indicate whether they asked if he had been drinking or why he had fled — logical questions, since the accident occurred at 2:37 a.m. The report also minimized the impact of the crash on the driver of the other car, Ian Keith, by failing to indicate that his airbag had deployed — an important detail, because Mr. Keith said in an interview that the airbag had cut and bruised his hands.

The FSU Prez issued a statement saying everything is on the up & up. The police did everything correctly. FSU does not receive special treatment. So go bother someone else's program, Ahole.

Wait, it as an hit-and-run and the hitter-and-runner had at the time a suspended license.

Wouldn't that be an automatic felony?

It wasn't a hit & run because he came back awhile later.

Surely, you've heard of the cliche the guilty always returns to the scene of the crime? Well, in this case, it was the innocent who returned.

If the locals say "enough is enough," it will be in reference to the mean ol' police hassling these poor FSU players who are just trying to bring the good people of Tallahassee another national title.
