He's stepping down. Finishing the season, then he's out. So he's coaching the final two games. Odd.

Any chance Dan Mullen leaves MSU to go back to Gainesville? You have to figure long term shots at a national title would come easier if he's coaching the Gators. Same logic applies to Harbaugh if he's thinking of going to back to college.

Florida is a better job than MissSt or Michigan if you're trying to win.

If Harbaugh ever goes back to college, I think it has to be Michigan. He was able to build up Stanford, so I don't think Michigan will prove to be any more difficult.

I think Mullen is the way to go.

The only questions I have is what happens if Miss. St is in the playoff? I can't see him leaving before a playoff game, the way coaches in the past left before regular bowl games. Does Florida wait? Does Mullen leave if they win it all?

I'm a big Muschamp fan but haven't followed Florida much. But looking at recruiting, yikes they're last in the SEC according to 24/7.

He's been the only obvious lame duck candidate in the conference for most of the season (setting aside any Spurrier retirement rumors), so that's not really too surprising in context.  I'm not suggesting that Muschamp is necessarily a stud recruiter, just that this year's (still very early) recruiting rankings aren't necessarily an indictment of his recruiting skills...just his coaching skills.

I think if it was next year at this time Kiffin would be on the short list. But I think he needs another year at the Nick Saban House of Refuge before he's ready.

I think you've got an easier shot at getting into the final 4 if you're coming out of the SEC East than West. And if Spurrier goes soon, it becomes even easier. I wouldn't look at the state of recruiting as a negative. Not sure where Bama was ranked pre-Saban, but its no where near where the recruiting is now.

This makes no sense to me.

Mullen had a pretty acrimonious departure from UF the first time, so that makes sense to me. RR OTOH, would be a PERFECT fit at UF, provided of course, he can bring Casteel along with him. No reason why UF shouldn't want RR, although I can think of some reasons why the converse might not be true.

I've heard all about the rift between Foley and Mullen, but Rich Rod? With the kind of athletes that Florida can get, his offense would be unreal. They would have the running equivalent of what the Ol' Ball Coach was doing in the nineties. I'd also love to see him go up against (some) of those SEC West teams.

And honestly, even with the rift with Mullen, how bad is it that you can't make up? I guess, without knowing, it's easy to say that, since these guys will have to work with each other.
