The refs fucked the game. We can all agree on that.
The worst part was that the first half was pretty well officiated and they let the players fairly decide things. Then at half they lost their minds and destroyed whatever rhythm and flow there was.

The frustrating thing is that it wasn't JUST the fouls. Meeks was out of bounds and they called it a jump ball. Pinson doesn't touch the ball and they call it a deflection. In both instances the refs were right there and it didn't even seem particularly close.

Listen, I'm jubilant. This was my favorite Carolina team and to see them win it was incredible. And honestly I got annoyed when the first stuff I read on here was talk of the officials because it takes away from what this team does but I need to remember that I am all, 100% bias and emotion during and right after these things. I invest.

But, setting aside my fandom, the refs in the second half ruined the basketball game. They really did. Do I think it changed the outcome? Who the hell knows? It changed the entire game, the flow of the game, the way teams played, it changed everything. We'd literally have to start the second half over to even know how the outcome would be changed and then it would be a different game so...it's just impossible to know because this is the reality and the reality is I am overjoyed that Carolina won the National Championship but sad if you are just a fan of college basketball and had no rooting interest because you saw shitty officiating instead of letting two great teams decide it.

Goss is projected to be a second rounder. He will stay. I don't know who Mchale is. Collins and Tillie are more highly regarded than Goss w/r/t NBA and I'm still betting they both stay. It's a DEEP draft.
McHale is my binky nickname for Collins because he wears 32 and his father, a former player, must have taught him some McHale moves based on his play.
I think Goss gets his projection raised to bottom of first and declares without an agent and gets drafted by someone like the Spurs at the end of the first because he can defend and play multiple positions.

By the way, Gonzaga is ranked about 10-12 for next year

Salisbury state comment maybe???

I'm not heart broken I'm fucking salty because the refs made calls that allows UNC to stay in the game. Collins getting shitty foul calls that took him out of the game, along with Williams and Karnowski (moving screen fouls on Shem but not not Meeks or Mayes) made Gonzaga have to play a game they couldn't win.
If anything, Collins should've had a couple more against him and been out earlier, the refs bailed him out. But Williams and Karnowski were absolutely screwed. The refs also fucked up a bunch of other calls as well, on both sides. Ugly, ugly game.

This really sums it up nicely.

The announcers and the production was a lot more Gonzaga heavy than I had expected. They kept showing Stockton and Adam Morrison for instance but none of the 40+ Carolina current and ex-NBA stars.

I know ... I mean its not like one team has been there a bunch and the other team had literally never been there before ... The feel good story should have been to show both teams equally ...
