The left rim seems really soft.

After the las final four in Houston, the shooting was awful, and I remember some suggestion the rims were too tight.

UNC was never going win the national title without playing Villanova so here it is.

Goddamn they are killing us inside and 0-10 outside yet we refuse to collapse the zone and make them shoot! Wtf
I was saying the same thing but then just when SU got back into the game, down 7 with plenty of time left, Carolina started burying every three they took. They're just...really, really good.

Yeah. But when you're facing a better team, you need to take care of business and hope the other team makes some mistakes. Carolina's only errors were a bunch of missed threes in the first half, something they corrected in the second half. Meanwhile, Syracuse went 4-13 from the line. Just crippling. They really were down 12, because the lead got added to as SU took a ton of risks late. Down 12, but if they go 10-13 from the line, it's just a 6 point game, and anything can happen. You simply cannot go 4-13 from the line against that team and hope to win. You just can't. So credit UNC for what they did, but my god Syracuse just crippled themselves.

And a lot of those misses were the front ends of 1 and 1s.

They had a shot.

So many blowouts this tourney, especially starting with the Sweet 16. Fairly boring tourney.

That said, Nova-UNC could be a classic.

Edit: starting with the Sweet 16, there have been 14 games. Those 14 games have been decided by:

That is an average of over 14 PPG, with only 4 of 14 games < 10 point margin. Blech.

Yes, these games have been pretty lame in general, after the insanity of the first two days.

If UNC wins it all, they will become only the 2nd champion in the last 31 years to not face a single top-4 seed before the National Championship game.

The only other team? The 2005 UNC Tar Heels.

A couple quick keys for me for tonight:

-Can Nova stop UNC in transition? Roy's teams always look to run when possible. Getting into a track meet with UNC probably isn't a wise idea, and I'd imagine Wright will try to slow the pace down somewhat. Nova doesn't need to run to get good looks on offense, and while UNC is stupid athletic they're not a great defensive team. I'd imagine they'll try to slow the game down somewhat- not to UVA-esque levels, but at least hold up at times and work in the half-court. They may need to sacrifice some offensive rebounding clout to make sure they're back defensively, which leads to...

-Rebounding. UNC will almost always have 3 6'9+ guys on the floor. Does Wright stick with his generally smaller lineups so as not to get killed on the glass. Hart and (to a lesser extent) Jenkins are capable rebounders, but maybe we'll see even more Bridges tonight. You can't stop UNC on the glass, but you can limit them, and keeping their 2nd chance points to a minimum will go a long way towards limiting them offensively.

Unc has been great this tourney at playing slow or fast.. ND tried to slow it down and UNC just pounded them down low.. They have a good combo of bigs and guards.

Regardless it looks like two teams playing at their peak right before the finals.. So hopefully it's great game.
