That's too bad for the Russian pair. They DID have a really nice side-by-side synchronized spin, though.

Congrats to the Germans!

I'm so pissed I'm going to miss the men's performances! Because life and stuff. I'll make sure to DVR it and watch the performances on the off days.

So the men are going tomorrow, but you'll need to stay up late to see the good ones! Vincent Zhou is going early - just after 8 - because he doesn't have much international experience, but Adam Rippon is around 10:45 and Nathan Chen at 12:12 am I think.

I have just scheduled the DVR to record 8 pm to 4 am. If anyone watches live and happens to post the actual time that stuff happens, I would be grateful. (I don't mind knowing how the skaters did before I watch. Your comments actually enhance my watching.) TIA. What I do find annoying is having to fast forward thru ages of snowboarding, etc.

They managed to bury the fact that Messing, an Alaskan now skating for Canada snuck into the lead despite a big fall on his biggest jump...but it was, otherwise, a very stylish performance as his convincingly channeled his inner Gene Kelly.

Adam Rippon is so incredibly entertaining, I don’t give a flip about a quad if you’re not entertaining.

California. Duh.
Yeah, I know how things are scored now, but to a guy who pays attention once every four years, that was a fun performance to watch.

and Aliyev immediately shows up, does an even better quad lutz, his whole performance is the old Russian esthetic again: classical romantic dressed in 18th century military garb... no way he's now not in the lead
Skating should really be more than how many rotations on one or two jumps

It's not going to help Chen that NBC massively overhyped him as the next great American hope for men's figure skating.

He still is, though. He's 18, and will be battle tested for 2022. Hanyu and Fernandez will be retired by then.

My NBC station skipped this performance and ran the news instead. So annoying. They were back for Hanyu anyway.
