knucklecup said:Haha. Somewhat hyperbolic. Jason Hammel was good for the Cubs this year and doesn't belong in the A's rotation, so I wonder what Doubront will do with the Cubs.
Theo has sold high to perfection, bought low to perfection and clearly sees value in AL starting pitchers getting a free out every time through the order.
I wouldn't at all be surprised to see this makeshift rotation of underperforming AL starters like Doubront, Straily, and Arrieta with Lester, Price, or Scherzer slotted in at the top, and Edwin Jackson who is a better player than he has shown in his Cubs career at the bottom, with budding, young, cheap offensive superstars peppered all across the diamond...
I expect this nights and weekend package to be pretty darn profitable in time.

Sounds similar to Raymel Flores the minor league SS the Sox included in the Wade Miley trade.Savin Hillbilly said:Good defensive SS (though the scouting reports make him sound somewhat short of Marrero, let alone Iglesias) who hit rookie league pitchers well, but has struggled in full-season ball (.667 OPS with a >20% K rate in A+ at 21 last year). Good speed on the bases.
It looks like his ceiling is Pedro Ciriaco II. But it's nice to have a little more organizational depth at SS, especially if the Sox are mulling using Marrero as a trade chip.
