Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

I lasted all of 5 minutes yesterday afternoon. Turned it on around 4:45 and Felger was screaming into the microphone about the Patriots playing the disrespect card and how stoopid the fans where to the point where Murray basically told him to lay off the kid that asked the "hater" question.

I understand trolling the fans to get listeners and callers, but in Atlanta with all the potential guests at close to 5PM, that's the best that they can bring to the table??? Shit on Brady and how he answered a 10 or 11 year old kid getting to ask a question to his idol and mocking fans of the team?

Edit: and before someone brings up how I was chuckling about some Brady Fans going nuts when Fred called him weird... There is a huge difference between what Felger was doing and the reaction Fred got to some offhand comment.

Yeah... this take is disingenuous, even by Felger's standards.

"No one is saying the Patriots suck. No one has said that. Gawd you Patriots and Patriots fans are the worst with this disrespect thing."

Except for the continuous disrespect you and Mazz have demonstrated virtually every day since OTAs. Brady, Michel, Edelman, Patterson, Josh Gordon, Hogan, Thuney, Cannon, Waddle have all been called out (sucks/blows) by name, and that's just the starting offense!

Clayborn, Shelton, Mal Brown, Van Noy, Hightower, Roberts, Wise, Rivers, Jon Jones, Crossen, Harmon, J-Mac on D.

That's 40% of the 53-man roster off the top of my head that has been called out by name.

They're complete asshats.

I couldn't even get through the Bedard segment yesterday since Mazz & Felger are so annoying & unlistenable. These clowns are pathetic at this point and this is the flagship station of the NEP.

For a guy who thinks fans are too sensitive and pick on minor details, etc. he's trying to thread a needle with his "it's not EVERYONE who thinks you suck... for every one like me, there's 100 Zolak's..."

I caught a little yesterday, what can I say, it is Super Bowl week and I am in Patriots immersion mode. But even with my desire to make my week all Super Bowl, all the time, this show is unlistenable. They actively hate the vast majority of the Patriots fan base, particularly those who aren't overly negative and who, God forbid, might actually just like to enjoy the journey and the run up to the Super Bowl. Yes, it can be annoying that some Patriot fans seem to take it personally when the team is disrespected in the media or by opposing players, but so just don't talk about it if you find it so annoying. There are plenty of other topics. They are just so damn angry and full of bile and resentment heading into the best week of the year for a fan whose team is lucky enough to get to the SB. It's just not enjoyable on any level.

Might be worth listening...just finished the crossover...Felger is extremely hung over. Been puking all day, doesn't remember getting home last night and, according to Zo, still reeks of booze.

I caught him on TV at the end of Bertrand & Zolak and he looked the part - a cross between warm death and cold shit. But he flat out said he was going to take it out on Patriots fans and started whining about what babies they all are before the cross even finished, so I'm out.

Guess he's been reading our thread.

Bertrand and I once went back and forth on DM when I had Twitter years ago, he admitted they used to read what we said about the shows. No idea if they still do.

It's no shock that any media member reads these threads, I assume that all do. At the end of the day, they're like us; they want to read about themselves. Actors read reviews, athletes read the sports pages, there's no doubt that these dudes read this.

Maybe not every day, but enough that they get the gist.

i listened to a bit yesterday or monday and he was going off the rails about how pats fans are now the equivalent of cowboys fans and we should be ashamed. he just went on and on with this.

i had to click it off, but sometimes i wonder does he not understand he's in the position he is because of that passion? like talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

it would be interesting to see how the sports radio/ talking heads landscape here would sound like it if all four teams fell into a middle of the road funk, the teams not in dead last but not in first place either, but sort of treading water like so many other pro teams. going years without even sniffing a real shot at being the best. just being average.

Was stupid enough to do one of my once every few months check ins toward the end of the show today. Caught trust fund Mikey in mid rant about how Bill completely screwed up putting the team/roster together this year. They got lucky down the stretch, and it worked out, but terrible job, and he better not have the same approach next year. This, on the Friday before the super bowl, which culminates one of the best, most enjoyable runs this team has ever had. Click. Jesus, who finds this fucking idiocy entertaining?

I started to quote 7 posts that all said the same thing: the show sucks but I listened to it to see how it is.

And everyone found it still sucks.

Please don't adopt an alligator or taste bleach or wear Zubaz. Trust me when I tell you those are still bad ideas.

Felger picking the Rams is complete opposite of being a fraud

He said from day 1 if he had to pick the Patriots vs the field he would pick the field. I believe every game he has picked their opponents because that's the field, which is who he picked .

He's being consistent with his hot take

I find it incredible that people continue to listen to a guy talk shit about their favorite team every day. Even if he turns out to be wrong about something, he'll get back to bashing them ASAP. Fellowship of the miserable, indeed.

This is correct. He said at the beginning of the playoffs that he would pick against them every round, for this reason.

I think the general excellence of the Boston teams over the past 20 years has given Felger cover to be a contrarian asshole, and he thrives as a douche-bag that a large part of his audience can dump on (hear and react so to speak) . I've cut way back on the guy, as he's too contrived, I'd rather to listen to Francesa, who admittedly has lost a few miles off his fastball. but I still find interesting, and his anti-Boston bias is at least born from the reality of his growing up as a MFY fan.

Caught a few minutes via tv yesterday. A caller gets on and proposes making overtime a continuation of the 4th quarter, starts to talk about how that would impact coaching strategy late in the 4th, but Felger immediately cuts him off. He asks Gasper about NFL overtime rules. They never discuss caller's proposal or go back to him. I felt bad for the guy after he probably waited over an hour to get on, but then I realized he got what he deserved for calling the show.

I'm sure they'll tell us all today that the Rams suck, that they weren't the team the hype said they were, that Goff is terrible, and that anyone who thinks the Pats would have beaten the Saints--in Atlanta, Tony--is a footy-pajama wearing honk.

Felger will pound the drum that the one thing he respected about the Patriots was that they worked harder than everyone, put in all the time, but not even that's true anymore. They're just a team that turned it on in the post season, but the No Days Off and Patriot Way is a myth. Loathsome Murray will spend the entire time saying they should have three in a row but arrogant Belichick had to bench Malcolm Butler, and he'll never forgive him for it. They'll somehow minimize Sony Michel as well. Can't wait

I don't think that's the show we're going to get today at all. Maybe later this week but not today

To Murray, they were playing with house money and he was going to be ecstatic either way. Although, the fact that this is almost the same defense that got picked apart last year is mind boggling.

Felger will allow people to celebrate and take his lumps.

Mazz will likely be the crumudgeion... Say some truthful things but cover it luck, which is somewhat true as well. Defense was amazing but Goff did suck and the coaching staff of the Rams made no adjustments and didn't really test them by throwing deep but 3x. Brady was far from stellar but as he does every year, did enough to win...

Either way, who fucking cares what they say ... 6 fucking Rings bitches

I actually will listen today. I think Felger (today) will be complimentary, especially because the D was so dominant. He hates the new NFL and all the offense. He will say that THIS is what the dynasty was built on and it is very appropriate that they beat the Rams again and both wins were highlighted by a tremendously coached defense.

I'll listen to F&M's hot takes from 2-3, and then switch to Francesa to hear his open.

I suspect that both will put goat horns on Goff/McVay and Francesa in particular will focus on Brady's un GOAT-like night.

FWIW, Felger does the live 4th quarter stream on something called fan Cred. Him and Jermaine Wiggins go on for the 4th quarter of every game. Last night, he said he was fine with the low-scoring, defense first game that was happening.

Been trying to guess what negative angle (because you know there has to be one) Felger will pull out of last night's win. I'm going with: "The defense won that game for them!! And what's happening to the defensive coordinator? He's going to Miami!!!!"

Mazz doesn't think it was exciting.

Felger thought it was very compelling "every play mattered". "Lack of adjustments" by Rams offense shocked him.

Mazz: McVay got pantsed by BB

Mazz saying where they are now opposed to a year ago is crazy and gives all the credit to Belichick.
Murray thinks it's the greatest achievement in the history of the franchise.
Felger thought the game was compelling with a lot of drama. Mazz was not entertained.

Felger - I could not have been more wrong about this team. You don't go back to the Super Bowl after losing one. It just doesn't happen.

I think they will play a lot of:

What would the headlines be if the Patriots lost? Brady is done, he choked, etc.....

The Saints would have won

Is this the worst Pat's team to win a SB?

Josh McDaniel and Brady played poorly most of the game.

When fans call they will say

"don't get panties in a bunch, Fans. We know Brady is the best. We acknowledge that. But if one of just mentions that he played poorly and it like WWAAAAAAHHHH

It's on and everyone above you are posting what is being said Right Now.

Edit: Mazz is unbearable.

Was this the best Patriots team to win a Super Bowl? Nope

Is it my personal favorite team to win one? Nope

Still, Enjoy the fucking win for a day. I almost miss "You're Right Mike!"

Felger is the best on days like this:

"What was the biggest difference between this year and last year? The fat slob went to Detroit. If that offends you, I'm sorry. In case you can't tell, I'm not a Matt Patricia fan. Brian Flores is a badass."

"Shake your ass all you want at us today. If you can do it on a landline, that would be appreciated."

I don't get Mazz though... maybe he realized he was sounding like a bigger douche than expected or his talking points fell flat, but this is a different Mazz at 3:30 than it was a 2:30.

He sounds reasonable.

I think he was surprised that both Felger and Murray thought it was a good, compelling game. When Felger asked if it was a good game. Mazz immediately said no. Then seemed to back track a bit when the other two spoke positively about it.
