I think it’s a weird trade for Toronto. They cleared Ritchie off of the books for next year but I’m not sure they got better Not sure Dzingel plays much and Lyubshkin is kind of a poor man’s Carlo,

I think it’s just clearing that second year of Ritchie and gives them some rhd depth for this year.

5-0 heading into the 3rd. Jake Muzzin fell awkwardly and bounced his head off the ice when he hit Chris Wideman's knees. Nothing dirty of Wideman's part, it's just one of those unfortunate perils of hockey things.

The bloom is coming off the rose a bit up in Tarrana Jack Campbell, who was getting Vezina mentions in December has been awful in 13 games since the new year. He has a 3.26 GAA and .894 sv % and he's 3rd worst in the NHL with -4.55 GSAA (NST model) among goalies with 10 games played. He's last in HDSV% and HDGSAA in that time period. Mrazek has actually been worse than that in 7 games, shockingly. Leafs badly need a goalie. I'm not sure Hutton solves that problem.

Color me unsurprised. The generally knowledgable TOR media's ball washing of Campbell this season has cracked me up. The guy was hot for 20 games last year then lost a series (while playing pretty well) to a Habs team without much offesnive fire power is suddenly going to lead the Leafs to a Cup? I've heard all sorts of chatter about what a priority resigning him is. Hope they give him a 5x7.

Oh wait, they have no money.

It's kind of a weird trade. Hutton has been injured and hasn't played since October. He's staying in Tuscon, he's not joining Toronto's AHL team. On the Toronto side, I'd say it has more to do with Mrazek and Hutchinson than Campbell. It's sink or swim with Campbell for them. Mrazek has been injured a lot and bad when healthy enough to play. Hutchinson is just bad. They have Joseph Woll too but I believe he's hurt.

My initial reaction was Arizona wanted to clear out a contract and the Leafs figured they take a flier for free.

Campbell and Mrazek -11.81 and -5.03 GSAA respectively since Jan 1. That's the worst in the NHL by a wide margin.

Does Muzzin’s LTIR let them take a run at Fleury? I mean, if they go in to the playoffs vs. Tampa as currently built, it’ll be an embarrassing slaughter, and a sixth straight 1st round exit (I’m counting the 2020 QR as 1st round, and that’s a favour to the Leafs, since the alternative is a DNQ).

it would get them most of the way there.
