Playoff races hearing up.

Pittsburgh/Tampa on tap tonight. Naturally NBCSN goes with Buffalo/Detroit. That’s how you sell the game.

(and yes I know the Buffalo market always has crazy good ratings even with a shitty team)

Yeah, if I had one nitpick about the league it’s the scheduling. For example, they had 13 games scheduled on Monday, going up against the State of the Union, but only two last night. They really need to spread it out so fans can enjoy the product every night of the week or have the option of just watching 4-5 games a night.

They have to work with building availability. Many of the teams share buildings with NBA teams and its winter so most concert tours are playing indoor venues. It’s tough to have an even split of games during the week.

Pretty good Habs/Leafs game tonight. 0-0 late in the 2nd. Must win for MTL if they want to keep their faint playoff hopes alive.

Elsewhere, Tampa is up 1-0 on the Isles. The Isles have really crashed and burned since they had that insane point streak in October/November.

PIT/TB tonight. 1-0 Pittsburgh in the first.

Also, not sure what the circumstances are, but Florida is dressing 10 F and 8 D tonight.

Seems to be working... #19 for Acciari, 18 for Connolly, and 15 for Vatrano tonight

Pysyk listed as a forward tonight, he’s got a goal and two helpers

Freakishly similar to the Rich Peverly incident in Dallas. Normal shift, nothing noteworthy, and collapsed against the glass at the end of the bench as soon as he sat down. Hard to prepare yourself to see something like that.

Darren Pang on Blues broadcast said Bouwmeester was awake, alert, and acknowledging people en route to hospital.

Edit: This is also the first game in the Blues' annual Dads Trip, and his Dad was in attendance. Must be an awful feeling.

Quick nice work by the medics on site, hopefully whatever cause the rhythm change didn't revert on the way to the hospital. Scary stuff, you just never want to see this but thankfully the NHL has done a great job of preparation for these events.

Good news: Tampa is without Stamkos, Kucherov, Cirelli, McDonagh, Rutta tonight

Bad news: they are playing the McDavid-less Oilers

He should get 10 games. You can’t kick a guy. That’s probably the most dangerous thing you can do out there. They league has to hammer him for that.

I’ve mentioned this before, but the Panthers attendance is pathetic for a team in a wild card spot. You can see all the empty seats on TV, and at least half of the people there are Flyers fans. Bad look for the league. Just move this franchise to Saskatchewan. Tampa Bay is a great market, but hockey in South Florida just isn’t working.

The building location is awful. There’s nothing around it except a bunch of office parks. It would be like if the Bruins played on the Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington. Actual it would be more like if the Revolution played on the Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington.

Kassian gets 7 games for his karate kick. This and the McDavid injury could really sink Edmonton for the division. At least the Bruins benefit next week.

I liked how player safety in its explanation used his bullshit defense of “he was holding me so I had to get away”as, ‘you intended to make the contact’ and then gave him seven games because of how insanely reckless it is to do that intentionally with any amount of force with your skate blade.
