Didn't know where to put this but very interesting...new thread? Mods?

The Red Sox 210 K entering today are most for a pitching staff through 20 games in Modern Era. (via @EliasSports) pic.twitter.com/vaCjWgm7Vd
Breaking a record from... Last year. Hard to get excited about any record over a 20 game period when Ks are up league-wide. It's certainly nice, though. I just don't imagine that they will set the season record. Games against Os, Astros, and Braves early, helped.

That's really astounding. Why the hell it's in the manager hot seat thread is beyond me.
Additionally:
The Red Sox lead the AL in runs per game (5.3), AVG (.278), OBP (.342), SLG (.521), doubles (59), triples (7), and stolen bases (20).

I said this in the game thread, but it bears repeating here. Eric Hosmer is hitting .340. The guys hitting immediately behind him are both hitting under .215. Before the game yesterday, PeteAbe tweeted that there was no way the Sox should pitch to Hosmer. Joe Maddon told his pitchers to pitch around Bryce Harper for an entire weekend to great success.

Meanwhile, Farrell appears to have his guys going after Hosmer, and he is killing them. I don't get it. I hope that this is a case of Farrell telling the pitchers what to do and them failing to execute, though that would raise its own set of concerns.

And in last night's game (5/17) Uehara wasn't destroyed by Hosmer but by a throwing error and a cookie to Paulo Orlando, a 30-year old career minor leaguer with 8 career HR's in major league AB's, putting the game out of reach.

The blame last night could be spread across several squanders and middling pitching by Porcello outside of Hosmer's HR.

The Royals are just over .500 but they are still the same fundamentally decent team that won the WS last year. And the Sox weren't going 6-1 every seven games this year.

The best baseball teams in the league win only about 60% of their games. Quite often, the other teams' good players (or even bad ones) do really good things. KC is obviously a terrific baseball team - last year's WS winner, two years ago made it to the WS. The Sox losing two pretty close games to them in their park on consecutive days is nothing to really be concerned about. It happens. Losing will happen many, many more times this year before all is said and done.

Hosmer is also hitting about 380 against righties and only about 200 vs lefties. Last night Layne was warmed up ready to go and Farrell left Tazawa in to face Hosmer. That tells us something about either Farrell or Layne. If you're not bringing the LOOGY in there, why is he on the team?

Nevermind I misread you.

Also, this thread can die in a fire.

ETA: Just in case you don't get what I mean:

I thought Taz was throwing pretty well, and didn't have an argument with this (non) move. Part of the game with relief pitching, IMO, is that its always a roll of the dice that a new arm is going to be effective on any given day. If you like what you are seeing from the guy on the hill, sometimes that should be enough to go against splits and convention.
