So how did Arsenal turn into Atléti in the past week? Mustafi - Luiz - Tierney back 3 has been outstanding

Fair play to Arsenal they’ve played it perfectly. This City team needs a rework and have had too many matches like this where there just isn’t that clinical edge. Sterling was dreadfully wasteful and the rest of the attack invisible. Happens too much

Hasn’t it felt like David Luiz has been a little out of form in his most recent league matches? He was outstanding today.

Arsenal needs to pay PEA.
His contract runs 2 more years at 10.4M GBP / yr, covering PEA's age 31 and 32 seasons. They might be quite content to let that play out, and let someone else overpay for his decline years.

Half of those blown chances were David Luiz reading him like a book, though. And he wasn't getting great service since they were trying to go through the middle. I dunno, Pep might've gotten his tactics wrong.

Sterling plays on the wing but I wouldn’t blame you for not noticing that Jesus played today because he did nothing. The entire system Pep plays is designed to get the ball to wingers who the supply themselves or the strikers. Sterling wasn’t starved for service and he missed 3 distinct chances which probably turn the match. Everyone is allowed a bad day this is hardly Sterlings fault but he’s much worse on the left than right and in general Pep seems to have chosen Sterling and Mahrez over Sane and Sterling and that seems to have been a mistake. Pretty much the entire Mahrez deal was a disaster as it added very little to the team, forced Sancho out of the club, and resulted in Sterling on the left with Mendy overlapping and pumping crosses into 5’9 attackers who will never do anything with it

contract end-date is there, I suppose, but not full structural details like you'd expect for a US sports league. At least, not that I can find.

If Man United stick with their De Gea is #1 and ship out Henderson stance, it will cost them points next season. He’s truly falling apart.

I’m shocked Ole started Bruno and Rashford. Both desperately need a rest. A loss wouldn’t bother me as long as we leave unscathed. Unfortunately the injury to Bailly looks very bad.

I did not see the first half and was wondering what the hell caused there to be 11 minutes of added time for Giroud's goal. Is it the above collision with Maguire that sent him out? From that view, I'm actually shocked the Bailly would be the one to come out more seriously injured given it's the crown of his head to Maguire's face.

yeah somehow Bailly came out with the worst of that one, he ended up stretchered off with at least a concussion. Maguire was not exactly 100% either, and he'd already had a good head-knocking earlier too. The incident happened at like 40' and play didn't resume until about 50'.

Biggest impact is on the top-4 chase, of course.

May have been a combination he had just gone down minutes before after going head to head with I think Zouma? Pretty awful to watch either way.

On the upside FA Cup final with a slightly rested Pulisic is a pretty great outcome. CHOs defending not so much.

Similar start for Arsenal as their last FA match. Hopefully the follow the same previous response. They need it.

I'll be interested to see if Lampard does something to shake it up, like bringing on Kante as a third midfielder. Arsenal were on top the last 30 minutes or so. But Lampard definitely has better options off the bench, especially if we end up in extra time.
