Two games at Wembley, three SL/CL teams, and Crystal Palace. Man City drew Liverpool in a double/triple/quad showdown. Chelsea (also shooting for as many as three trophies) got Palace, who will be without Conor Gallagher for the game, due to his loan from Chelsea. Sad for him that he won’t be allowed to play what probably would have been the biggest game of his career so far.

There wasn’t really a right answer for Palace, but maybe Chelsea is for the best. Hopefully distracted and Palace could have drawn or even won their last matchup. I didn’t feel good about avoiding three losses in a row against City, and after a brief run as Liverpool’s bogey team, what seemed like forever ago, they have taken care of business quite easily lately. I’m sure Chelsea is pleased with their draw though.

Big kerfuffle over the Liverpool /City game. Turns out all trains from the Northwest will be unavailable due to planned maintenance for that weekend. Meaning City and Pool fans will have a very difficult time getting to London for the game.

Both clubs (and now the Labour Party ) have lobbied the FA to move the game to a more suitable venue - Old Trafford for example. But the FA are holding firm because they get a bigger payday from a Wembley game - travelling fans be damned.

the train shutdown has been planned since 2019 - and the FA knew about it ages ago

I have always been against using Wembley for the semis because I think it devalues the final, but I understand the financial reasons it is down. However, with the engineering works on the railways they should move the one semi final up north. The FA has spent the last year saying the game is nothing without fans, let’s see them put their money where their mouth is.

Not the FA Cup - but I just scored a ticket for the DFB Pokal semi-final in Leipzig. Will be my first time in that stadium and the first time seeing Union with the away fans. I'm pretty excited. And I'm going to miss watching the FA Cup semi live as I am going to Union-Frankfurt in Köpenick, which is being played at the same time because of course it is.

didn't realize FA Cup final will be played before GW 37. Is that a pandemic/WC schedule issue? thought it always landed before UCL finals

Whoops, missed this thread and shitposted in the main GW one.

Finishing in the second half was almost comically bad on Liverpool's part, there were another 2-3 goals to be had. Through is through, imagine we'll see Jota and Henderson feature vs. United on Thursday
