Two defenders were down to block. The near defender just tipped the ball to the right of the far defender, but the initial kick sent the keeper diving left. Was a confluence of misfortunes, really.
They'd kept them at bay for 80 minutes, without too much trouble and then they get a goal up and kind of wet the bed. I haven't seen a replay but i felt they could have closed down Rooney a bit better. And yeah, a player stumbled when Rooney had the ball outside the box. Small mishaps adding up.

He's a glory hunting Man U fan and he's going doolally. (To be fair he has been to Old Trafford, and has all manner of Man U gubbins.)
I'm imagining him watching the game rubbing his Ralph Milne ManchU panini for luck and talking to the wall.

Yeah, he gets very animated, and he texts me all the friggin time, when they score, or concede, all season...and the thing is, i always root for whoever they are playing, even if it was an all star Jerusalem XI.

NB: not an anti Semite btw.

Zaha has to be a nightmare to ref. He goes down so often, but mostly not because of diving. He just puts himself in awkward positions trying to play the ball and loses his balance a lot.

This is going to go to penalties isn't it?
They say penalites is a lottery, but I'd say if it goes to pens, Palace are big underdogs. But they look kinda cooked and i don't know where they're gonna get a goal. Gayle and Puncheon are the fresh legs so hopefully they can put something together.

That happens more than you would think. The defense relaxes thinking they won't attack down a man, and next thing you know it's in the net.

Anyone that was DVRing the game in the Bay Area is going to be pissed. It was being shown on a Fox-affiliated independent channel until 10 minutes ago, then they switched it to Fox at noon and started playing infomercials on the other channel.

just had the old boy on the phone...he's made up...i was gentle, but I did mention that they just beat Palace to win the FA Cup and it wasn't an overpowering performance, and i mean no disrespect to Palace, who set their stall out to be hard to break down and get something on the break.

I've got the German Cup Final on ESPN Deportes, as well. Bayern 0-0 Dortmund an hour in.
Thanks. Found it on ESPN Watch.

Tell him they might have to keep Louis now.

Given what happened to his Hammers team in the final in 2006, Pardew should be the last man dancing before the final whistle.

Dortmund v. Bayern going to extra time. Just in the 30 minutes I watched there could have been five goals. But it's scoreless.

I was just thinking about how weird it is that the only team that I follow that's won anything in my adulthood has been the Red Sox.

I guess all today's magic was used up after Davie Gray bought sunshine to the people of Leith.

Mrs Bonger doesn't much care for football but her one memory was bursting into tears after United beat Crystal Palace in the 1990 replay. Her school had the kids do a massive "GO ON PALACE" banner which they hung outside the gates.

No waterworks this year, but she's surprisingly forlorn.

West Ham back into Europe.
When the idea of seeing Andy Carroll and his man bun on a cold night away to Locomotiv on BeIn sports on a Thursday afternoon seems strangely more compelling than it should be, you know you're hopelessly hooked on footie.

And now LVG has to do all the post-match media while news is breaking that he is out and Mourinho is taking over.
