Perisic's quality crossing the ball is such a big improvement over other players Spurs have had in that role over the years. It's paid huge dividends already.

Richarlison is on such good form you should sit Son for him this weekend (please I’m so tired of watching Son score bangers against us on the counter)

His form is making it look like there's zero chance of that banger happening, so he will definitely start and definitely score it.

Atletico were up a man against Porto and got a stoppage time winner...but then committed a handball in the box almost immediately after. 1-1.

Griezzman scores for Atleti in the 101st minute. This is some bonus coverage.

Atletico was absolutely uninspiring for most of those 90 minutes, outside of a bit of promise after the start of the second half.

They're really crippling themselves trying to keep Griezmann's minutes clause from triggering. He's certainly not the player her was in the last World Cup, but he's still a force and it sucks that Atletico can't get any sense of consistency in terms of personnel on the pitch because they basically have to play two lineups each game. One from minute 1-60 and the other from 60-90.

Their inability to get Joao Felix the ball earlier in possessions is also infuriating. Why the offense was being filtered through Morata is beyond me. He's got the first touch of a bulldozer with a bad transmission.

I want to believe that the inspiring/fortuitous ending will bring a bit of spark to the team, but really they were undeserving of the win, barely looked dangerous with a man advantage, and, well, damn, it's Atleti so watching them is never going to be comfortable, but I'm tired to watching them pan for goals.

Sporting beat Frankfurt 3-0, but this game was tight and tied 0-0 until an hour. Both sides had good chances, and Sporting in particular was very loose and error-prone in the back but kept getting bailed out by the keeper and last ditch defending. They did press well though. And they have quality up top.
Watched the first half and it looked like 2 sides that have combined for 15 points from 10 domestic league matches - bad turnovers, guys rolling around on the pitch, great chances fluffed (especially for Frankfurt).

Of course the match snapped to life after I turned it off.

I was going to set one up and the days just got away from me.

So far--Dortmund up 2-0 FC Copenhagen and Dinamo Zagreb up 1-0 on Chelsea, both games at the half.
If it's still possible to start one before next week, I'd still play.

Chelsea continuing to suck is also good news for USMNT fans, as the sooner Tuchel is fired, the better.
Only if you think Boehly is gonna have sufficient trigger speed here. Given the dumb World Cup schedule, I think there are more risks if players are in a horrible club situation induced funk going into the WC than there would be in the sensible version where there's more time for head clearing.

I suppose that gets made up for by the guys who will be on heaters, but I don't like it for Pulisic unless Todd flexes his Abramovitch muscles
Chelsea are a basket case
Well this was super fun to read post-hoc! lolololol

Watching Mckennie jump over/through chumps for headers never gets old.
Weston is gonna shine bigly in the WC. Physical specimen-type guys usually do, and Weston fits the bill. Damn right I want Weston going up for headers on corners and set pieces in the Q!
