Seems like an overcorrection on the new rule. Hand was in a natural position, I guess, as he braced himself but the arm also allowed him to maintain control that otherwise would have been lost.

Yep, I was just about to say that. Very few dead rubber games. I'm not a huge fan of rewarding 3rd place teams but it does keep more nations fans interested. And being a Scot. I can live with it.
