This is fun. Wish the crowd was full for maximum impartial* entertainment, but still.

*not gonna pretend I’m not pulling for Team Begbie

I don't recall seeing someone more open on a corner kick in the middle of the box like that before. Sure, he's a fullback, but that has to be a goal.

England’s quality has to win out over 90 minutes. They’ve looked likely to score on virtually every possession.

Kind of a classic England disappointment so far. Not generating enough chances despite having so much talent and letting lesser players have a huge imprint on the game. On offense they seem to be trying to hit balls over the top to Foden and Sterling, both of whom have been poor at bringing those balls down and making a play.

The McTomminay-as-CB experiment is not going great.
I said a few weeks ago that central defense is where we're weakest. That said I'm glad Gilmour is playing, and I can see the green shoots of a half decent side. But McTomminay is much better playing in front of the central defenders...but needs must at the moment.

I'd love to see Patterson get a run about for 20 minutes at right back. He's quick, and full of lusty youth.

Ok. Feels like Foden was the biggest threat.
It's a bit of a tough position for England. A point virtually ensures that they will go through but things could get dicey if they concede. Maybe playing at home will keep them on the front foot but there comes a point where the smart thing to do might be to play a bit more conservatively.

Everyone on England was bad except for maybe Pickford and Shaw.

England didn't look great but that's in large part due to Scotland playing a very good game.

Scotland looked always a threat to mount a counterattack and it kept England off the front foot for so long as the game was tied. The second match day was always most likely to be impacted by the fact that four third place teams are going through. The reward of getting a point was always much greater for this game than the risk of not getting a result for both teams.

Not that it would ever happen, but I'd love to see what would happen if 12 teams advanced and the top 4 group winners got a first round bye. With all the variance in draws etc, make it a real prize to win the group.
