Hungary vs. Portugal at noon, and France-Germany at 3pm.

Portugal should be a fun watch with Pepe, CR7, Bernardo, Jota, Felix, and Bruno. Hungary better come organized because that's a lot of creativity and firepower.

What else can you say about France-Germany--two of the heavy favorites.

So many punchable faces, even without Pepe.

My major concern for Portugal is that CR is no longer the best player on the team but is still going to act like the best player on the team.

This announcer is really Trebek-ing the pronunciation of some of these names and clubs.

Jota had Ronaldo wide-open for what would have been a sure goal and took the shot himself and CR7 almost had a stroke. A fun start.

This Portugal team is pretty sick, a lot of fun to watch.

Enjoying Derek Rae pronouncing all the names in the accent of the appropriate language, filtered through his Scottish brogue.

I know he's a quality player, but Bernado Silver always strikes me as a guy who is a great dribbler who often disappoints you when he has the ball.

He’s had a rough year. He’s at his best when he sells that dummy and checks back. Overall I think Santos has this team setup a little too much as a group of attackers and a group of defenders. Portugal been doing a lot out wide but not creating a ton

Sanches has done this job for them before. I think him doing too again is key to Portugal’s chances.

Tough break for Hungary. Vital goal for Portugal, who really needed to take three points from this game with Germany and France still on the schedule. If Hungary can't scrape a point from this matchup that pretty much closes the book for them.

I don't really care about the game, but he was past the defender and the defender pulled his arm.

That's a penalty for me.

That was class by Portugal.
If the scorer had been anyone other than Ronaldo, don't you think that would have gone to a VAR check? I tried to freeze-frame the moment of the pass, and if he was onside, he was only *just* onside. (Maybe the powers-that-be thought it wasn't worth checking in injury time at the end of a match Portugal was going to win, but every goal in this format can count, and they should all be checked.)

No Werner for Germany, Gnabry starts up top for them, flanked by Muller and Havertz.

Benzema gets the start for France, playing on the right with Griezmann in the middle and Mbappe on the left. France's midfield of Kante, Pogba and Rabiot is ridiculous.

This France XI is pretty ridiculous. They may lack some width though, as their FBs tend to stay home.

Early yellow for Kimmich for a studs up challenge on Hernandez.

If Low did come back for another tournament, he'd be on the sideline in a tank top and flip-flops. That's the only place left to go.

Is this the place to complain about the monocolor unis? Because both of these teams have all-time great ones traditionally, and they’ve been ruined.

Not much Hummels could have done, Mbappe was ready to smash it home if he didn't deal with it. That pass by Pogba was something else.
