Russia v. Denmark at Copenhagen
Finland v. Belgium at St. Petersburg

Looks to me like a Denmark win and a Belgium win could get the Danes through

Edit: Actually, I think the H2H win for the Finns over the Denmark would put them ahead, regardless of overall GD

Tiebreakers
I think your original thought is correct. If Denmark and Belgium win then the 3 teams with 3 points would all have the same number of points in matches against each other and so the second tiebreaker is goal difference in those matches.

Got it...when I read the tiebreaker I was only considering GD "in those matches" as being a head to head thing. Conceivably Denmark winning by a couple would put them through if Belgium wins.

Group C also plays today right?

Netherlands is through, and will likely paste North Macedonia. Ukraine vs. Austria should be fun though.

Ukraine is through with a draw or better. Austria is through with a win. A draw will likely get them through. If either team finishes on 3 points, then it's a waiting game.

Here's the Denmark needs per ESPN:

Denmark
- Must beat Russia to stand any chance of progressing
- If Denmark win and Finland win or draw, the Danes will finish third and will have to hope three points is enough to go through.
If Denmark win and Finland lose, three teams will be locked on three points. Positions 2-4 will be decided on results between the three teams. If Denmark win by any scoreline other than 1-0 and Finland lose, Denmark will finish second in the group. But the exact scoreline would define the other positions:
- If Denmark win by any one-goal scoreline other than 1-0, Denmark will be second, Russia third and Finland bottom.
- If Denmark win by more than one goal, Denmark will be second, Finland third and Russia bottom.
If Denmark win 1-0 and Finland lose, the group will be decided on overall goal difference and goals scored, and Denmark can finish no lower than third.
- If Denmark win 1-0 and Finland lose 1-0 or by two goals, Denmark will finish second, Finland third and Russia fourth.
- If Denmark win 1-0 and Finland lose 2-1, goal difference and goals scored will be identical between the two teams and positions 2-3 will be decided on disciplinary points, with Russia in fourth. If disciplinary points are level, the overall ranking in Euro 2020 qualifying will be used to decide 2nd and 3rd: Denmark 15th, Finland 20th.
- If Denmark win 1-0 and Finland lose by any other one-goal scoreline (2-3, 3-4 etc) it's Finland second, Denmark third and Russia fourth.
- If Denmark win 1-0 and Finland lose 3-0, third place between Finland and Russia will be decided first on disciplinary record and then on Euro 2020 qualifying rank: Russia 12th, Finland 20th. Any other three-goal defeat, and Finland finish third with Russia fourth.
- If Denmark win 1-0 and Finland lose by 4+ goals, Denmark will be second, Russia third and Finland fourth.

I’m definitely watching Netherlands there’s a fascinating mix of talent and self loathing it’s so interesting to see if they can overcome it

Macedonia had a great goal chalked off to a seemingly very tight offside. Some good stuff being played by the Dutch but the final ball lacking so far

And it pays off for Austria! Will they slide back into their shell now?

Christ, UEFA needs to really step up it' head trauma policies. Austria's Baumgartner collides heads on a corner and stays down for a minute. Then he scores a goal. A couple minute later he goes down holding his head, but medics let him stay on. Then a couple minutes after that, he goes down again indicating it's his head, so he's finally pulled off.

Arnautovic muffs a golden chance! Perfect pass to set it up though.

Edit: It was Schiff with the gorgeous ball.

And Arnautovic mishits another quality look.

Love the way Austria has gone after it this half. Ukraine has looked a bit lackadaisical.

Sometimes when I watch soccer I wonder how anyone ever scores. It seems like so much has to go right.

Ukraine looking much brighter now. It’s like someone explained the tournament rules to them at halftime.

Austria still getting forward a lot considering they're thru with a win here, correct?
yes. The Austrians are not afraid of the Ukrainian counter.

Alaba has been rather quiet today. This has been a excellent squad perforce by Austria.

Not exactly a beautiful game and some poor finishing but that was one of the most entertaining games of the tournament so far. Good for Austria for playing it straight and going forward all game in a game where a point for each and hunkered down football seemed possible.

I love the European championship. Maybe more than the World Cup.

The Finnish flag kits are on point, and Eden is starting for Belgie, but I'm going to the other one, partly due to the "WFAN guy" doing PBP.

I'm rooting for the Danes, but I'll say that before the goal I was already impressed that Russia was getting numbers forward. Should be a great match for the next hour.
