Go to the Soccer page and choose USA. The top 10 headlines list has three articles over a year old. There is not one article about the women's national team(number one in the world). The MLS can only be found through the drop down menus even though they are a top five sport(by attendance). ESPN has already trained a couple of generations of soccer fans to go elsewhere and I don't see it improving with advent of FOX sports channel.
ESPN is laying off an unspecified number of employees as it seeks to improve profitability, the company confirmed.
In a statement, ESPN said, “We are implementing changes across the company to enhance our continued growth while smartly managing costs. While difficult, we are confident that it will make us more competitive, innovative and productive.” A rep declined to comment further.
Kevin Negandhi. ESPN should do it sort of like all star balloting...1/3 public email, 1/3 players, 1/3 coaches and managers. Serious about public, unsure of what other groups would/should get a vote.DrewDawg said:Rick Reilly, oh please, oh please, oh please...

and according to Jackie Mac Johnathan "Toes" is "a name we're used to hearing" with Chicago that needs to pick it up for them to beat Detroit. It's better when they don't even try to talk hockey.Papelbon's Poutine said:Just watched Around The Horn - I don't know why but I find myself watching it a few days a week. Anyway watching three of then argue about the anchored putting ban, they all made te point "well if its such a big deal why wait, do it now!!??!?!" Apparently none could actually, you know, find the answer to that question since they would then know that rules are changed only every 4 years per agreement and 2016 is the first chance they have to implement. Really?
Sources: ESPN Laying Off Hundreds [UPDATE]
ESPN
is laying off a portion of its staff today, a network spokesman
confirms to us. How many? ESPN won't say. A tipster told us earlier
today that it would be more than 400 staffers. A source at ESPN said
that number is a little high, but it appears to be in the hundreds.

I came into this thread just for the hell of it, but I honestly can't remember the last time I watched ESPN when 30/30, a football or baseball game wasn't on. In all seriousness it has to have been a couple of years at least and I stopped watching for the reason above. I don't even look at the website anymore because I can get sports news in so many more places than before, its strange when you think about it because I used to watch ESPN in the morning before work, then as soon as I got home after work, all while checking the website all day.ifmanis5 said:ESPN is literally a troll. Casually watching 20 minutes this morning the stories were: NY Rangers (their only mention of hockey), Tiger Woods (they never do golf stories unless it's Tiger) and (of course) a piece on how great LeBron is. They're the FOX News of sports.

Do you check out Reiss's pieces? I find that he usually has some useful nuggets.HomeBrew1901 said:I came into this thread just for the hell of it, but I honestly can't remember the last time I watched ESPN when 30/30, a football or baseball game wasn't on. No, no. That's not how a message board works. Explain that statement. Because I really enjoy when the New Buck S. wants to air his tard.SoxJox said:res ipsa loquitor

If that doesn't sum up everything that's wrong with espn I don't know what does.
I know why, but its pathetic for the premiere sports network in the country. And coming up next after this we've got US mens soccer, then tennis, then golf, then more basketball talkmascho said:NBA Finals air on the Disney/ABC/ESPN family of networks. NHL doesn't. Frustrating, but a fact of life.

Pretty simple.
