I haven't been following Spain all that closely. I knew Barca was in first, what I didn't realize is that they have scored 23 goals this year and have conceded NONE. That's just ridiculous 8+ games into the season.

The next best defensive record in the league is 7 goals conceded (Atletico, Valencia, and Villareal).

And there's the first one for Madrid. Ronaldo converts the penalty after the ball went off Pique's arm as he tried to slide in and block a cross.

Damn, Suarez looks amazing.  Having a guy like him that can create from out wide is going to help a lot when teams pack it in.

I'm kind of hoping Rakitic comes in for Xavi to start the second half to provide a little more defense.  Xavi's passing has been great, but he is a liability on D and with the way Real is running through the midfield and getting to the back four I think the right move is getting Rakitic in there.

Things Ray Hudson has already said in this game:

throbbing
an eel covered in Vaseline
Jack and Jill nursery rhyme
ding dong see saw
as sharp as a porcupine's backside
hungry wolverine

And there's still an entire half to go...

I think this list just doubled on Pepe's goal

Hudson's rant after the Pepe goal was epic. Him and Zolak should compare notes.

Suarez went down really easily but Ramos is lucky he didnt get called.

Wow what a giveaway and goal.

Brutal by Mascherano to bite there with Ronaldo chasing down Iniesta - does not help that Iniesta played Real a perfect through ball

Is Barca this sloppy or is Real this gopd at creating takeaways? Barca looks a bit overmatched. Every time I look up Real is coming down the field with speed and numbers

Newcastles's away kit made me think at first that they were the Seattle Sounders and I was watching some bizarre Clint Dempsey testimonial.

Lukaku has had an up and down game but just scored a horrible horrible right footed shot after a 24 pass move to go 2-1 up.

We used a similar play in high school to pressure the D on the kickoff with our fastest wing. Never came close to working like that.

EPL commentator complains that referees give too many cheap fouls and that the game has "gone soft" ... DRINK

Spurs are spursing all over the place today. A generally good performance against a weaker team at home undone by poor finishing and comical defensive errors ... It's the spursiest game imaginable. We are only missing a dumb penalty concession.

I'm really torn as who to root for. I hate both, but if Arsenal has any shot to make up ground, I think Man U

Man Utd's passing has been very poor. Lots of sloppy giveaways.

It's only a matter of time until Rafael gets another yellow, right?

This Chelsea team is just dominant.  Stacked at every position, coached extremely well, and they seem to always be on the same offensive and defensive wavelengths.  They might not dominate games vs good teams, but they almost always seem to be in complete control.

With Ivanovic on a booking Man. U should be trying to get Di Maria singled up on him as often as possible.

It's the one week of the year when we have an extra hour for weekday afternoon games and we get stuck with QPR-Villa.
