That Coyle post and Marchand empty net whiff hurt a ton. They played like shit but still had two golden chances to end the game and didn’t. Better show up in game 6.
Beecher and Shattenkirk went out, Brazeau and Grz went in.was beecher a scratch?
You’re right. I just saw it hop over Swayman’s stick.Control what? Tavares backhanded it off the side of the net, it hits Gryz’s skate right to a wide open Knies?
What happens if they add a healthy Matthews in TOR? B's haven't faced a TOR team with healthy Nylander and Matthews yet this series. That will cause me to drink next game. .Bruins played one of the worst games I can remember and they still came close to winning. I won't say I'm encouraged by it, but the good news is Toronto really wasn't much better than the worst version of the Bruins I can remember. Get it together, get back to playing Bruins hockey, and dominate 60 minutes to put the Leafs away.
Pretty sure Woll got the pad on it, but there was at least a foot of room between pad and post, Coyle just didn’t hit it.Just before… did Coyle’s shot hit Geekie to keep it out of the net?
JVR is basically the same as Maroon and Brazeau as well, can't win in playoffs with 3 guys that can't skate. 1 or 2 is fine but that is a ridiculous lack of speed out there. Beecher should have been in for JVR if they really wanted to get Brazeau in. Beecher has been one of the better players all series.Beecher and Shattenkirk went out, Brazeau and Grz went in.
In general I like Grz's game, and he was great for most of the night... and maybe this is confirmation bias on my part... but he's been on the ice for some absolutely backbreaking playoff goals. Shattenkirk hasn't been all that great either, so this decision is whatever for me.
Brazeau just got back, and he immediately goes in while Pat Maroon was also there. Two guys with a very similar game, while losing Beecher who can at least skate and win faceoffs. That's a headscratcher for me.
You are home? Jealous. Stuck in an uber on 93S with 40 mins to go.Just got home from the game. Get JVR the fuck off the ice for the rest of the year. He has no legs left and was the most ineffectual player on the ice every time he was on. Put in Beecher. I'm ambivalent on Shattenkirk vs Gryz.
I’m happy to point the finger at anyone but Swayman tonight. He was the only player to show up for the full game, and if you give up 1 goal in 60 minutes and make the saves he did, you should win. With each passing chance to close out a series, and I’ve said this before, I’m getting the sense that Monty is not a wartime consigliere.
The Bruins are carrying a lot of baggage now back to Toronto: they know better than we do this is just like last year. Swayman has had three chances to close out series in his career and has lost them all. McAvoy has played very meh in the playoffs since Chara departed.
There’s no easy way around any of this. They have to fucking figure it out. They are certainly capable of doing so but it would be great if they didn’t flub every chance they got.
Sway is the only reason the game went to OT, that is the hottest of takes that he lost the game. Felger won't even go that far. With each passing chance to close out a series, and I’ve said this before, I’m getting the sense that Monty is not a wartime consigliere.

Florida took care of fucking business last night with a 3-1 series lead by pummeling Tampa into fine paste. Bob is also playing out of his goddamn mind.Anyone like our chances against Florida? Making the assumption the Maple Leafs choke.
Swayman gave up one regulation goal despite being hung out to dry multiple times. He is NOT the problem. With each passing chance to close out a series, and I’ve said this before, I’m getting the sense that Monty is not a wartime consigliere.

I didn’t mean to imply Sway was bad, far from it. Only that he knows full well he’s yet to win an elimination game in the NHL.Sway is the only reason the game went to OT, that is the hottest of takes that he lost the game. Felger won't even go that far.
Fuck off with Swayman takes... horrible takeWith each passing chance to close out a series, and I’ve said this before, I’m getting the sense that Monty is not a wartime consigliere.

Nope. They’ll be lucky to get a win if we make it to Florida. The B’s don’t handle strong forechecks & physicality well.Anyone like our chances against Florida? Making the assumption the Maple Leafs choke.
It means that he knows it’s something he’s yet to accomplish in the NHL, and that he’s had three chances so far.I don’t even know what that means that he’ll “take that to Toronto”
It’s like when you’re constipated and then you eat a burrito and suddenly you want to plant red peppers and then watch a hummingbird. You know.I don’t even know what that means that he’ll “take that to Toronto”
I just can’t figure why they can’t put teams away. It’s been a very long standing issue.Probably nothing to be done until the entire roster, coaching staff, and front office turn over. Just have never figured out the recipe for playoff success. Don’t see this team winning another Cup for a long time, unfortunately. These things do carry over.
No, that’s the peyote. It’s like when you’re constipated and then you eat a burrito and suddenly you want to plant red peppers and then watch a hummingbird. You know.
It’s like the mid-late 90s all over but they are SO much better now. It’s confounding.Probably nothing to be done until the entire roster, coaching staff, and front office turn over. Just have never figured out the recipe for playoff success. Don’t see this team winning another Cup for a long time, unfortunately. These things do carry over.
They won 1 playoff series in 13 years in that stretch. Even today I find that utterly amazing, that they were that futile. It’s like the mid-late 90s all over but they are SO much better now. It’s confounding.
I suspect they get into a “don’t make mistakes” mode instead of a “go make plays mode.” Just a hunch.I just can’t fathom the nearly complete 180 they did from Game 4. To go from playing that well to what they did tonight is mind boggling.
Except for that cup and three finals appearances in 8 years before this recent spell.Probably nothing to be done until the entire roster, coaching staff, and front office turn over. Just have never figured out the recipe for playoff success. Don’t see this team winning another Cup for a long time, unfortunately. These things do carry over.
That certainly seems possible. To me, that’s on the coach to break.I suspect they get into a “don’t make mistakes” mode instead of a “go make plays mode.” Just a hunch.
All of the above is a 100% correct and sober assessment of this team.Except for that cup and three finals appearances in 8 years before this recent spell.
Look do they choke a lot in the playoffs historically? Absolutely.
Do they have a flawed roster? Yes we knew that going into the season, many of us picked them to miss the playoffs this season.
Is the coach over his head in the playoffs? Maybe, but hockey coaches pretty replaceable. Personally I don’t like to keep any coach for more than 4 years, but that’s just my opinion. By the time this team is a legitimate contender again, someone else will be coaching.
Have they also not been one of the more successful playoff teams in the league over the last 15 years? I would argue that they have been. And that’s without going to the bottom of the league for 2/3 years and drafting top 5 talent.
They have a program that they’ve built where guys want to play here, and they’re doing a great job developing talent without high picks.
Look we know how even these teams are. It was always going to be a long rock fight at the end.

That’s pretty much it. They get really tight at home. That’s why a guy like Mark Recchi was so valuable to that 2011 team. Veteran voice that would tell the guys “fuck these guys were winning this” instead of the guys on the bench thinking “we’re fucked” as soon as a puck bounces and the crowd gets quiet.I suspect they get into a “don’t make mistakes” mode instead of a “go make plays mode.” Just a hunch.
Not really sure what the fuck Montgomery was thinking with this one. That’s absolutely fireable.
Yeah. I just have no idea. Unless the goal was, in fact, not to close out Toronto because the idea of sitting for a week before the next series is unwanted or something.
This is now the second playoff series he’s fucking up. If this goes south, he shouldn’t get a third. In fact no matter what happens in these next two games, they should rethink Jim Montgomery.Yeah. I just have no idea. Unless the goal was, in fact, not to close out Toronto because the idea of sitting for a week before the next series is unwanted or something.
Just awful job by the coach.
You are home? Jealous. Stuck in an uber on 93S with 40 mins to go.
Fuck tonight.
Just fuck and also FUCK
Did you find out what it was?Play Ully game 6. Please. And It has zero to do with Sway. He was increíble tonight
Why the fuck is there so much traffic on 93S at 10pm
I was at three straight home Game 7 losses before being in the barn for Game 6 vs. Vancouver. They’ve done it pretty much the entire time I’ve been alive. I don’t understand how a team with such a loud fanbase that constantly hangs out the building loses so much on home ice.
I do wonder if the actual ice surface itself is a problem now.
IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT. IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT.I was at three straight home Game 7 losses before being in the barn for Game 6 vs. Vancouver.
