Tough loss for the Rangers (HUGE loss, actually) but not a surprise he's out. He took an slap shot flush to the temple.

If Tampa wins tonight, will they wait until Wed when that series is over (or 2AM Thursday) to set the schedule for all of the conference semis?

If Detroit wins, can the semis start as early as Thursday?

Couple of lousy penalty calls for both sides. Rangers getting the worse of the deal b/c Ovi is ridiculous sometimes.

Here
I love that it was Danny Carbombs who just stopped playing with 5 seconds left and allowed that all to happen.

Definitely a hit from behind. But Ovi came in 1 on 4, so to even give him a sniff was a major error.
I dunno, the hit wasn't square between the numbers, caught a lot of shoulder... I watched it a few times and Boyle is facing in towards the boards with his back completely to the play and Backstrom takes a roundabout path into the hit. Its not like he t-boned him, given how Boyle was facing its about the most reasonable hit possible.

It was a penalty because he did board him and he elbowed him in the head, too. That said, if Boyle tried to play the puck away from the scrum, none of that would have happened. Furthermore, if the other Rangers weren't just sitting around and watching the play, maybe they wouldn't have given Ward a clear and open shot in the front of the net.

Backstrom's hit looked cheap but I wouldn't expect that call to be made and that isn't the reason why the goal was scored.

Exact same situation with the teams switched there is no way they don't call that a goal. Typical Montreal bullshit.
