I think the Panthers are exactly as advertised - top 10 offense, meh defense, old & inconsistent goaltending. They'll be a handful every round they stay alive.

I'm just confused why our defense couldn't handle a sneeze, really, all series.
I've mentioned a few times that the reason the Panthers struggled in the regular season was their penalty killing, no doubt a result of being a heavily penalized team. Hence in the penalty-suppressed climate of the playoffs the rest of their game—which is quite good—is shining through.

Interesting Florida having a terrible penalty differential in game 1. I wonder what changed since the last series.... /s

This Panthers team is not afraid of any situation, even if they’re not really clicking at first. They’re going to end up taking both in Toronto here.

I'm not ready to count out the Leafs, but you wonder if they'll start grabbing their sticks a little too tight like the Bruins did.

I hate the Panthers but admit this is making me feel a bit better.

That's interesting -- it's making me feel better to know the Panthers are good. Their dump and chase and cycle game is doing the same thing against the Leafs that it did against the Bruins.

Not sure if to post this in East or West, but we may have CED in a week or so

Florida is playing great but they are also living a charmed life. Pucks are going off Bobrovsky’s mask, the cross bar, through his legs but getting kicked away.

He would definitely want the two recent expansion teams meeting in the conference finals. They might get $1 billion franchise fee for the teams in the next expansion.
Yeah.
Dallas Seattle is a win-win

Win no matter who wins

Dallas would also be good for a Houston expansion

Maybe the fact that Florida had to basically play like it was the playoffs for a month or two has given them an edge. Hard to sustain another month I imagine.

If Florida ends up knocking out the Leafs and the Oilers, Trudeau might bomb us. Now that the Bruins are out, if Canada doesn’t end its 30 year losing streak, it may never.

Between here and everywhere.
Samsonov leaves the game after crashing into the post pretty hard, Woll comes in and immediately gives up a goal to tie the game 1-1.

Toronto is on the ropes.

Canada can't bomb Florida. At least not in the winter, we'd take out half of our own population.

If Samsonov is out, Florida may have the best goalie of the remaining East teams.... which is saying something.

This entire tournament is going to feel like a massive missed opportunity, isn't it?

Yeah the silver lining is that this does not appear to have opened the door for TML. Thinnest of silver linings, but still

Through a little less than two rounds, the Panthers have simply dominated the real estate behind the goal. They have scored a lot of goals because of the split second it takes a keeper to try to locate a puck that is coming from behind him.

Maybe the Oilers can beat these guys playing end to end against them but I am not sure anyone else can. Either roll up your sleeves and muck it up in the corners with them, even if costs you your transition game, or be prepared for more of the same.

So the Panthers, who won 6 straight games once all season, have now of course won 6 straight in the playoffs against the 1 and 4 seeds.

Hockey, man.
