Toronto better wrap this up Thursday. The last thing they want to do is give fans flashbacks of the Montreal series, and losing 5 at home never portends good things.

That said, Tampa never used to lose that game.

This time feels different. Tampa looks cooked and I bet we find out after Vasilevskiy was playing through an injury. I think Toronto comes out in Game 5 and just runs them out of the building.

Vasilevskiy has been mortal for a while now—he's still a great goalie, but just below the elite status he was at a couple years ago. Tampa has also lost some of their defensive prowess during that time. They also were 15th overall in 5v5 expected goals.

The hockey has been sooo good to watch in the last week. I'm glad to see Toronto get some wins. If ever there was a team vulnerable to playing tight in a close-out game though....

Wow. Large contingent of Maple Leafs fans in Tampa arena.
I live in Tampa, a couple of miles away from Amalie Arena…and yes there have been A LOT of people in Maple Leafs jerseys walking the streets

I think Toronto wins the series but they really want to get it done in 5….they lose that game at home and things could get tight.

Of course I don’t think previous Maple Leafs teams win that game last night and previous Lightning teams definitely don’t lose

Ontario at worst the 4th most common license plate FL it seems (from Nov to April)
Yep, tons of Canadian retirees in that area. My parents live in Estero half the year and it seems like 90% of their friends are Canadian. They are friends with the Staals' parents, even. I asked them to inquire why their sons are hypocritical bigots, but they declined.

How the hell can you tell? Any highlight I see of this series I have no idea who is who.
lol... it always takes me a minute or two when I turn on the game to remember which team is the home team and which is the way so I can figure it out.

Also love that TBS/ESPN also keep both team names in "blue" versus just switching one to white so you would know at a glance at the scoreboard which team is in what jersey.

right here
did I hear that right that the Islanders haven't had a lead after 1 for 24 playoff games? That's silly

Double whammy for the Canes: their Sebastian Aho took a puck to the face, then the Isles volley the puck in for a goal

Rielly starts the scoring in Toronto; Cirelli answers immediately afterward. 1-1.

Edit: Cirelli, not Hagel

Uhhhh, the SOG numbers of 37 and 22 at 4 minutes left in the 1st period are not, in fact, correct, right?

(Sorry just now tuning in)

Between here and everywhere.
Yea honestly? I don’t see a lot wrong with that hit. Giordano turns completely around opposite of what most players would do. If he continues forward it’s a nothing shoulder to shoulder.

On the one hand, this series has taught me not to trust the Lightning leading late. OTOH, this past decade has taught me not to trust the Leafs in close-out games.

Samsonov to the bench. Coming out of the TV timeout, it’ll probably be the $55 million line of Marner-Matthews/Tavares-Nylander-O’Reilly-Rielly.
