Holy shit.  They are going to make a movie out of this someday, and I feel like Whitey Bulger will be involved.  This whole day is totally fucked.

I wanted Julien gone as much as anyone, but to blame this on him is ridiculous.
I wanted him gone too but we were wrong. Neely/Sweeney are the problems. Its depressing that complete and utter failure may be best for the Bruins.

Hopefully Jacobs realizes that Sweeney/Neely are the management equivalent of Dave Lewis and cuts bait early.

Whoa. There's absolutely no way that's a coincidence.

That is some epic fuckery. Picking a guy ranked in the 40s-50s with the 15th pick is questionable - doing so when the guys you picked at 12 and 13 have the same agent as him reeks of malpractice.

Hey there's a full season of Ryan Spooner, and maybe Joe Morrow takes a big step forward, and they have to move one of Subban or Jones for help, and I'm out of optimism.

No, turns out it's Mahone after all.

He's a surprisingly solid skater given his musical background and should be there at #1 overall.
Sweet, who is expected to go, say 60th?  That's who Sweeney wants with his #1 pick.

This is the lowest of Bruins lows and that's saying something.

They've gone from drafting Gord Kluzak instead of Brian Bellows, trading Joe Thornton and getting crap for him,  getting Kessel and then trading him away and lucking into two #1's, with whom they drafted not one, but two blue chip players only to then trade them away and get shit for them, to this epic fail of a day.

Today is just mind boggling, I'm still unable to process how fucking idiotic the two trades and the one signing were; I haven't even gotten to the draft picks yet.

Sweeney is in so fucking far over his head it's criminal, he wiped out everything positive thing this team has done in the past five years in the span of about 5 hours.

Does he even have a plan as he looks totally and utterly clueless.

It's maddening.

Is there a possibility that this was the single most damaging day to a club's short term and long term in history?  Top line winger out, top pairing D-Man out in a year with a very weak FA class (not that we saved much money today anyways, retaining Lucic and re-signing McQuaid).  It was an incredibly deep draft (that we had an unprecedented 3 picks in a row in) and yet we reach TWICE with 3 picks in the second round already?  And many thought that with McIntyre signing, Subban becomes trade bait.  But you end up trading FOR another goalie, who many also thought wouldn't last the night? I am absolutely stumped and stunned.

EDIT:  Chris Kelly is still on this fucking team.  Seguin, Boychuck, Hamilton, Iginla, Mathew Barzal and Kyle Connor are not.  This has been a fucking travesty.

"#Bruins" trending higher than "#NHLDraft" on Twitter right now. I haven't seen such universal mocking of a GM since Matt Millen drafted a wide receiver in the top 10 three years in a row, all of which turned out to be busts.

EDIT: redundant

Well, when you put it all together in one post like that.....

If ever there was a time for the "Fuck this. Fuck that;. Fuck everything>" gif... today is it.  I've never been able to get gifs to work on this site though.

Which still makes me less of a failure than Don Fucking Sweeney.

The Lucic deal is actually not bad. Getting the 13th overall, Miller, and Jones for one year of Milan Lucic is ALMOST a steal (in a vacuum).

But - when you don't maximize the value of that pick, when Miller is essentially Krug, and when you do nothing with Jones when you have 2 other back up goalies...

It just compounds the idea that Sweeney has no plan.

So with the first round almost over.    Does anyone have any idea of the best available 3rd round targeted players we'll be able to grab in the second?

I wasn't planning on getting drafted this year - but there was a weird looking guy in a suit in the stands of my C league men's game. And I did have 2 goals, an assist, and 2 penalties. So maybe I go with the late 2nd round pick.

Is Charlie trying to Major League the team to move them? The people responsible for today are dumb enough to do that when they already own the arena.

Had to pick up a friend from the airport, so I missed the B's' picks.

Picked up a bottle of cask strength Maker's Mark on the way home.

You forgot the $2.7M of Lucic's contract the Bruins ate as part of the deal.

If we round up a bit, Sweeney is paying McQuaid & the contract remnant of Milan Lucic $5.5M, or what Hamilton (according to KPD) wanted per season on a long term deal.

On NHL Network draft recap they just said not to expect ANY of the B's draft picks to play for 2-3yrs at least.

This is the day the Bruins died...

I'm stuck out in CA and my son is blowing up my phone railing against everything Sweeney did today. I'm 100% confident that a 14 YO would have done better than Sweeney today. I'm sick. This ranks with Sullivan deliberately failing to send Lynn and Fisk contracts on time.

Central Scouting's summary on Carlo:

He's a really good skater and has great mobility for a player his size. The reach and range are there. He handles the puck well and is one of the best guys I've seen this year at being able to pass off the boards to a teammate.

SOUND FUCKING FAMILIAR???

Meh, you take BPA in the draft. No idea what if he was or anything but given the nature of prospect development in hockey that's the best strategy.

Is it too early to buy an Austin Mahone jersey, or are they going to trade the first pick next year for some gritty 4th liners and 7th round picks?
Googling Austin Mahone...

Uh, no. That's clearly not who you meant.

But he may be a better GM than who we have.

Wait... we traded a 2015 5th round pick for a 2016 5th round pick, that might be a worse pick, AND we have to wait another year for it?

Don Sweeney definitely doesn't get value in this trade. IN 95% of other draft pick trades if you trade a pick this year you're supposed to get 1 round higher next year or two picks.
