A year and two days ago I was at Fenway Park for my first, and thus far only visit to celebrate my son's 21st birthday. That was a good day. This year is completely different. The New York team in town is completely different, and I don't want to be there.

Uh, the game is in New York bro.
GIven how whack this season is, I'll forgive him. We need someone to start these threads, after all.

This also made me take a quick look at the schedule and given how tight things are I find it rather baffling they have two off days next week. Just a random thought.

Normally, with the Sox' punchless offense going up against deGrom, I'd say it's a perfect reverse lock game! But......I think it's more likely to be a 9-1 Mets thrashing of Boston.

-sigh-

I want this season to work.... I don't think it will.... but even if it does, it won't mean a thing to me. Even if the Sox somehow win the "World Series". I just can't find any enthusiasm

If we have no hope for Eovaldi then we have no hope. And has the offense been that bad?
The offense, after a 13-run outburst, has scored 2, 4, 4, and 3 runs, against mostly mediocre-to-subpar pitching.

In the first game of the season, Boston went 17-40 (.425). Since then, they've gone 34-139 (.245). So yeah, it's been pretty bad.

Meanwhile, of course, the pitching has allowed 7, 7, 7, and 8 runs in each of those games. So it's been a lovely combination.

I got nothing but time on my hands so I will be all in. Looks like they are still tossing the names around in the hat still; no lineups.

Hey, Roenicke. It’s a 60 game season. These guys have had eight months off. You don’t have to rest guys every other day, assuming he’s not injured.

Yahoo has Bogaerts out of the lineup but no lineup yet
Not exactly a Jimy Williams Pedro lineup, but Beni has no clue in the #1 slot, and the fiery JBJ is in at #8.

Beyond that, let's assume he wants to win. He's got 2.5 passable starters. What seems like the best strategy?

Why does X need a second day off?
He is banged up.
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Gets Wednesday off
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bogaerts (general soreness) is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Mets, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports. It will be a one-game absence.

He jammed his back, neck and hips on a defensive play in the first inning of Monday's game, but stayed in for the rest of that contest and also played Tuesday, going 0-for-4. Tzu-Wei Lin will start at shortstop in his stead.

I understand why X is resting. He did seem to hurt himself on that play. But it is disappointing not to have the best offense for a game with Eovaldi facing De Grom.

This game is going to be a reverse lock game. Or a reverse reverse lock game. One of those.

Where do you get 2.5? I've got .75.... maybe.
Eovaldi's theoretically capable of having all his outings be competitive. 1.
Perez - say .75 of his outings.
Weber - .50.
Occasionally Some Other Guy Does Well in the other two slots - .25. (Meaning we're competitive every 8th game.)

Of course, they can all crash and burn. But I'm feeling optimistic.

This is exactly why you don't do scheduled days off for a 60 game season. Save the off days for when the players are banged up or are struggling. Game 2 rest looks even more stupid now.

Where do I take the under, and do they have a maximum bet amount?

What's the deal with those 16 seats dead center being empty but all the others filled in with cardboard fans?

The mystery in this one is already over.

We will not be no hit!

I’m still going to watch anyway.
