I don't think it'll be that radically different.  The core isn't that bad, but I'd expect him to make a few signature moves so that when/if they succeed everyone can point to his moves as a big part of why.

To me that says:
1. Cueto/Price are going to be high on the shopping list.  I'd imagine he'll hang onto EdRod like he's made of solid gold.  Owens or (more likely) Johnson are likely gone for the right piece.
2. His GM's first assignment is probably going to be finding some corner position offensive fire power and then they'll pick what they like the price tag on the most.

My personal shot in the dark is Carlos Gonzalez for one of Johnson/Owens plus some additional pieces for the Rockies as one such signature move.  A big deal for Cueto/Price as another.  The tough answers will be at first and third, that is where they'll decide the success of the 2016 Red Sox.

Owens would get murdered in Colorado.

For those of us getting the info here, was this "power pitching" or "power" and "pitching"? Both kind of apply to the Tigers.

Both really. He said he wants what everyone wants, power, power pitching, and good defense, the same things that everyone else wants.

Lots to like from what I read from DD in this thread.

Not sure why anyone would be alarmed by his comments, and some things should be reassuring to folks.

And the admission that advanced stats are just a tool should not be surprising in the least.  Because that's exactly what it is.

I haven't seen the press conference, but from posts above it is clear that Dombrowski referenced a number of the younger players. Did he show any love for vets like Ortiz, Pedroia, Koji, and Buchholz?

Edit: added the pitchers

I don't think he's mentioned any vets. Only specifics I've heard him mention are Eduardo Rodriguez, Blake Swihart, Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr and Rusney Castillo.

FWIW he briefly referenced Pedroia when asked on the radio broadcast tonight about up the middle defense. Said he is still "a fine player" and has just been unfortunately injured this season, etc. he repeated his press conference name checks of the kids, including the JBJ-Betts--Castillo outfield; along with Xander, Swihart, etc
