Emphasis mine...very fitting, since it's all a facade.Deflategate props -- air gauges, 'K-balls' -- arrived with hour to spare
More likely Emperor Roger I will find some way to use this to dock the Patriots a first round pick. The point stands, however, and I really hope the Mass State Police takes the opportunity to send a bill to 345 Park Ave.
The refs are incompetent. We've seen this all year long. Yet somehow the Wells Report was able to exclude "human factors" as playing any role whatsoever in deflategate. Even more incredibly, the media bought it.This story is too funny. Reiss has it now too:
http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2014/story/_/id/14615160/air-gauges-k-balls-got-police-escort-gillette-stadium-new-england-patriots-win
Exponent further concluded that the difference in the pressure drops between the teams was not caused by a malfunction of either gauge or by “human factors” (i.e., variability caused by the particular individual who used the gauge).
Probably has something to do with his throat.I guess the NFL has no comment on this - I don't see Mort's lips (or Twitter-fingers) moving.
That writer, Keven Van Valkenburg, sent out a couple tweets about DFG last year:Pretty nice long piece on Brady's past year from ESPN Magazine.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14615476/new-england-patriots-qb-tom-brady-big-reveal
That made me laugh a lot harder than it should have. You can be my latex salesman anytime.Wow. He flat out says "I was part of the problem". Good on him. If mort weren't battling cancer I'm sure he would be right there with him twitting similar sentiments.
Yeah, note to Ben Volin: that's how you convey a sincere apology.
edit: I guess we can add him back to the whitelist? Or invite him to all the fun patriots-fan parties now? Or something?
I think he problem with Twitter for these guys (aside from simple ethics and lack of legwork for some) is that they see tweeting something as "just a tweet" and not a serious or actual piece of journalism. What they don't seem to understand is that a tweet can reach far more people than any medium they've used before and spread instantaneously. They're far more likely in 2016 to cause a firestorm with bad info in 140 characters than a long form in SI or whatever.
If he was making a noose reference, then Brady is my all-time favorite person ever.In 2012, when JPMorgan Chase lost $6.2 billion through a series of bad investments, Vanity Fair reported that the bank's CEO, Jamie Dimon, received a surprise phone call from Brady, with the quarterback telling him to "hang in there" and that even Super Bowl champs have bad days.
I think Jamie hung in there quite well:From that piece:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2016/01/21/jpmorgan-ceo-gets-pay-raise-35-27m/79132018/Even as Wall Street braces for more cuts to jobs and bonuses, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon was paid $27 million in 2015, up from $20 million the year before, the company said Thursday.
I know, it was a joke.I don't think he was making a noose reference.
On Sunday, when the Patriots play the Broncos in Denver, the temperature is expected to be in the mid-40s, a little lower than the temperature in Foxborough, Mass., for last year’s A.F.C. championship game. There is likely to be some precipitation, just as there was last year, which also will affect the balls.
At the start of the game, the Patriots’ footballs will be set at lowest allowable p.s.i., just the way Brady likes them. At halftime, they will be lower, probably significantly lower.
After all, that’s what science predicts. And you can’t ignore the laws of science, unless, of course, you’re the N.F.L.
I dunno - being one game from the super bowl is a pretty good outcome on the "no suspension" frontReading that Times article got me all riled up again...Kraft never should have accepted the draft pick penalty. Brady being suspended was actually the lesser harm.
I actually doubt that will be true, much more likely they'll be 13.0, but probably not a big deal as long as they're not over 15 PSI.NYT: At the start of the game, the Patriots’ footballs will be set at lowest allowable p.s.i., just the way Brady likes them.
Haha...I'm a moron. I literally when back a page or two but didn't even see it right above me. The funny thing is we used the same quote at the end.I wonder what @edmunddantes thinks of that article.
If it makes you feel any better, I didn't read it until you posted it. I think you sold it betterHaha...I'm a moron. I literally when back a page or two but didn't even see it right above me. The funny thing is we used the same quote at the end.
Sorry for the waste of space.
I wonder what @BannedbyNYYFans.com thinks of that article. It's nine months too late, but still worth the read. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/01/23/sports/football/nfl-ignores-ball-deflation-science-at-new-england-patriots-expense.html?referer=

Hey @dabombdig, what are you, stupid or just lazy??!! Take a look above you @edmunddantes post. Only a moron could miss it!!!I wonder what @BannedbyNYYFans.com thinks of that article.
Reading that Times article got me all riled up again...Kraft never should have accepted the draft pick penalty. Brady being suspended was actually the lesser harm.
Agreed. Especially if you consider that they win the first 10 games. You aren't winning all four with Jimmy behind center, sorry. You might not even be in the playoffs if the injuries played out the way they did.I dunno - being one game from the super bowl is a pretty good outcome on the "no suspension" front
1/2 idiot, 1/2 lazy, 1/2 drunk.Hey @dabombdig, what are you, stupid or just lazy??!! Take a look above you @edmunddantes post. Only a moron could miss it!!!
To be fair to me (and dabomb), I was looking for "New York Times" article. Edmunddantes quoted the actual writer's name...maybe that is why dabombdig missed it too. Or maybe he's just an idiot like me. Either way, it's a great read. And one to email to your friends who are Patriot haters.
PS - Thanks @GeorgeCostanza . You're Penske material.
I thought the same at first, but then re-read the section on Spygate and I think the author is merely characterizing how the other 31 (less successful) owners/teams feel about Spygate, as opposed to legitimizing the nonsense. And he does so somewhat derisively and subtly.Still misrepresents Spygate.
He also describes the "destruction of evidence" ordered by Goodell as a possible cover-up favor to the Pats without mentioning the AT LEAST as likely possibility that Goodell had the evidence destroyed to cover the tracks of his major over-reaction to the infraction (which is his established m.o. at this point). No, the writer claims that the Patriots were caught and punished for recording opposing coaches hand signals. That is incorrect. Had he added "from the sideline" that would have been correct.

Chris Kluwe is a brilliant logical human being with the most inside take on the game of football. This article a year later is poignant, relevant and timeless. This article was written a year ago but still is one of the best takes on dfg

Well, that was later on with some of the Matt Walsh tapes. Jay Glazer did have an unauthorized snippet from the original collection. You still missed the point.
They fucking showed the media one of the goddamn videos and it was as tedious and boring as you'd expect.
