No Iglesias until at least July. How long will Alex Gonzalez hold up? And what about Castellanos? Oh god is the variance high this year.

The gran facenda
OF Avisail Garcia is out for the year after tearing his labrum in his left shoulder yesterday trying to make a diving catch. He was acquired last year from the Tigers in the three way deal that sent Peavy to the Sox.

This has been a frustrating (in terms of leading the division by 5 games and having someone other than Cabrera leading the team in average) season. The bullpen has picked up lately but the bats have gone pretty cold since the sweep of Boston. Andrew Romine is a below average SS and Nathan has been streaky. Either way, the positive for this season will (knock on wood) be having a healthy Cabrera for the playoffs. Hopefully my next update will A) come sooner and B) bring more positive news.

Soria has made the Eric Gagne move look good so far by comparison, 6 hits allowed in 1/3 of an inning tonight, opposing batters so far are 8-10 with a BB in two outings (!!!).

To be fair, Soria was hurt and Nathan had pitched the night before. Of course he ended up pitching later but you can't plan for 19 innings. Half a game, wow.

Tigers inked old friend Shawn Hill to a minor league contract today - can smell the desperation from here as yet another Detroit bullpen starts to smolder and burn....
