I love when I hear that athletes can't, won't, or shouldn't be role models. Take a look at the reach that people like Brock Holt have. I've watched that video 3 times now and different emotions pop up each time. Brock is an absolute representation of how an athlete should approach the platform they are presented with. It's not fake with him either. He genuinely cares about the kids he interacts with at Dana Farber. It's not just making an appearance for PR purposes. I am extremely proud to have someone like Brock on the Red Sox. With the way the world is today we need people, not just athletes, like Brock Holt.

Wow, an extremely moving piece. What a genuine, caring, and nice guy who understands how he can make a real difference in people's lives.

Fantastic stuff.

The kind of community engagement exhibited by guys like Holt and Wakefield is what makes the Red Sox far more the just a sports team.

I don't think they should be by default. Some just don't have that in them, and we shouldn't force it on them. Brock clearly has that and more. I doubt he even thinks of himself that way, he just goes around being a good dude from what I can see.

That’s awesome. Very very dusty in here.

This is bigger than baseball. I hope BH is a Red Sox for life.
He is everything you could ask for as a player, team mate, role model and family man. Inspirational human who just does it all from his heart. There is always a spot on the roster for guys like this. He always plays hard wherever he is in the lineup, #12, you're my guy.

This is par for the course for him. He has been doing things like this since he was traded here.

He honestly deserves to win the Roberto Clemente award

I have been a lurker for a long time on this board....all the way back to 2003...I never really had reason to write (or thought I would contribute much) until today. As a parent of a child with her own medical challenges, sometimes you feel so alone and helpless. I knew Brock was involved with Jimmy Fund since his arrival here, but not to the extent witnessed in the video. I, too, now have a new “binkie”...

Now if you excuse me...I have to do something about all the dust that is floating around this morning...it’s effecting my eyes something fierce....
