In Dom's simulation, B's lost to the Blues last night. 2nd regulation loss since the pause. We'll chalk that up to resting veterans.

1 game left, 117 points, facing either NYI (66% ) or CAR (34%) in the first round.

Kinda forget just how much the Bruins spanked Philly in 2011. Game 2 was close but this was series never really in doubt.

Also, Pats are down 24-14 with 12:10 left in SB49 against Seattle on MFLN.

Holy fuck are we spoiled. We’ve got enough championship reruns to last us a few Coronavirus months.

That would be a great matchup...I don’t want any part of CAR.

What are you guys doing to avoid going stir-crazy?

I'm working remotely and my job has been positively insanely busy (I'm an Epic analyst - building and maintaining hospital records systems and, of course, have spent the past 3+ weeks frantically setting up telehealth and remote visits), but my usual release of band practices and shows is obviously on hold.

I'm still in the lab MWF which helps an amazing amount. TH wfh are a little sketchy. I can write at least but not a lot of science being done those days, ya know?

Been playing lots of XBOX (mostly The Division weirdly enough) and watching the 2011 replay. Binged all 3 seasons of Ozark last week. Cooking.
Other than that basically going stir-crazy.

Between here and everywhere.
So..

As I've mentioned a couple times around RMPS - I play for a disabled veteran beer league hockey team down here in DC. On Friday, one of our players (and more importantly, one of our friends) took his own life.

We're trying to raise some money for his family by selling some special shirts/hoodies. Every penny made on them goes directly to them. Some of you may recognize the image we stripped down on the back of the shirt. No pressure to grab one or anything - but I know a lot of you are hockey fans, some of you are military, and most of you are good people.

Jesus TSC, that's just awful.

I'm growing more and more concerned about the mental health issues all this is causing. I try to check in with my (remotely working) coworkers regularly, as well as friends and family. I can't even imagine what this situation does to someone with existing anxiety/depression/I-don't-know-what problems.

Having worked with Epic (I wrote biometric identification software that wrapped around Epic so hospitals could have positive patient identification), I am impressed.

I've been doing yoga for a couple months, but being home every day has helped make it a habit. Taking some time every day for the explicit purpose of making myself feel better has been helpful. It also helps build a sweat and make me the right kind of tired. That's been helpful.

I've also been slowly building up a freezer full of food. I go to the store at 7 AM twice a week and buy a week's worth of meal prep each time. I freeze half and am now up to a 3-ish week freezer backlog. 100% comfort food and stuff I'm excited to eat. I'm glad I learned how to cook as an adult.

I'm binge-watching science documentaries and shows. Sci Show and Crash Course on YouTube are great. The original 1977 Cosmos, the 2014 update, or the now-airing continuation are good.

I'm also still tele-meeting with my therapist. She is needed and rocks. If any of you are having a hard time, I would seriously consider finding a therapist if you can. They work.

We got phone-only Telehealth built in about a day, and then video integration from contracts signed with Zoom to doctors using it with real patients in about 8 days. It was a whirlwind. I was the PM on it too so unfortunately I didn't get to do any of the build for it (I really enjoy that aspect), but got to tell people what to do for a few days. So that was nice.

Yoga is a hell of an idea. Maybe I can convince the ol' lady to do some with me.

Those two women have great channels that are what have gotten me into it. Those two videos are the ones that were how I found them. They both have over 5 years of videos that cover a very wide range of practices. I've tended to repeat practices that are heavily weighted towards flexibility (over strength) as a goal. Try some different practices and see what you respond to. I've been keeping a "Yoga that Works" and "Try this Yoga" youtube playlist. Anytime I see a linked video that I could be interested in, it goes in the "try" playlist. Any "try" I do more than a couple times gets moved up.

The amount of yoga gear out there can get overwhelming. You really only need a mat once you decide you like it, but I also got blocks and some extra knee padding. The blocks help you do lesser-stress versions of positions by elevating support points off the ground. My knees are shit, so the extra padding is key when I'm doing anything that puts weight on them. Still, I haven't spent over $100 yet.

First, @TSC, I am terribly sorry to hear about your friend. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Second, @AMcGhie , thank you for the videos. I've been in the house for 3 1/2 weeks, and my job was basically my workout before, and also my sleep schedule, so I've been struggling with ways to remain somewhat active and find a way to get up and go in the morning. It's been difficult to get any semblance of a sleep schedule, and when I wake up at 9 and have to go straight into homework, I feel like I wasted the day. 5:30 to 8:30, before everyone else wakes up, is my only quiet time right now, and I need to force myself to get back to waking up early.

I've been learning C#, to try and put an app together, and I've also gotten into streaming OOTP 21 a few nights a week, running tournaments and opening packs. I'm planning on streaming a different game tomorrow, and getting out of my comfort zone, but haven't decided what game yet.

I actually did Yoga for like 40 straight days. My gf subscribed to all the BeachBody videos and they have a 3 week yoga retreat that I did 2 times through. It was awesome and I highly recommend it. Those other YouTube channels look great too, all work.

I prefer the stretching stuff to the strength stuff as well, but it all works. And the mental/mindfulness part of it is great.

I need to start that back up actually.

You know I have 15 years of .NET (mostly C#) experience right? I'm not going to write your app for you, but I can definitely point you to some good resources if it will help.

I did not know that, thanks for the offer. I'm really just at the beginning stages right now, to be honest. I'm taking a course on Udemy, which is pretty good so far (it starts with the basics, unlike some of the other ones I have seen that just throw you into the coding piece). But I'm not even sure I know what kind of resources I would be looking for at this point, though I will keep your offer in mind!

I've been working retail since my military retirement (long story, I needed a job to close on our house we were moving to, and they were the only company that would interview/hire me from across the country so they bought some loyalty), but I am at a point now where I can basically do whatever I want, so since I'm on quarantine for being high risk I've just been dabbling a little in this and in VBA for Excel purposes for tracking stats in OOTP baseball.

Has enough time passed now to say the Seguin trade was Neelys biggest mistake? He’s approaching 300 goals with Dallas since the trade and he’s still only 28.

I block it out and convince myself that if they don’t make that trade they don’t get McAvoy or Pastrnak.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but is that worth it if he’s a disruption in the room and doesn’t buy into what everyone else on this team does? Pretty sure that was the worry.

Speaking of the trades, the Thornton trade has been somewhat in the news lately. Brian Burke said he beat San Jose's offer and that he's bitter the Bruins didn't take his deal. He was GM of Anaheim at the time, claims he told O'Connell he would protect 5 players on his NHL roster. O'Connell could have 2 roster players outside the 5 Burke protected plus prospects and at least a first round pick. O'Connell denies Burkie's story, but a fun what if.

Burke probably protects Selanne, Scott Niedermayer, Andy McDonald, Francois Beachemin and then probably 1 of Getzlaf, Perry, Lupul. So hypothetically the Bruins could've ended up with Getzlaf, a lesser roster player, prospects, picks. I wouldn't change a thing, but an alternate universe where the Bruins have Getzlaf and Bergeron down the middle for 15-20 years is an interesting one. The only other rumored Thornton trade was to Florida for Luongo straight up.

I don't see them not protecting Getzlaf, he was their #1 prospect and was on the roster. I bet they end up with Perry/Kunitz, Bobby Ryan, plus a pick or something. Better than what they got, but not franchise altering I don't think.

Even if they got Getzlaf, would he have given them THAT much more over the years than Krejci has? A little more, probably, but not a huge amount more production. But if they have Getzlaf I bet Krejci gets traded, as he's certainly not getting signed to his current contract or given the opportunity he received.

If I remember correctly at the time, there was an “anonymous team executive” claiming that if he knew Thornton was on the block, he would’ve beat the offer. That sounds an awful lot like Burkie. I think he may be confusing timelines in his old age.

What do you mean about the timeline confusion?

If folks haven't read back on Burke's twitter timeline, he did an awesome Q+A a few days ago. Answered a ton of questions honestly (and humorously). That's where this all started and he was very detailed about the trade specifics. MOC then came out and said it was all complete fabrication, and Burke has told him he'll get the other guys on the calls to verify it.

Considering MOC never worked in the game again, and Burke is relentlessly honest and self-deprecating, I know who I believe.

The only reason I think maybe they end up with Getzlaf is that he's a center and Joe displaces him. You're right though, the more likely scenario is Perry/Lupul which is pretty bleh.

I think if they get Getzlaf, they keep Krejci but don't sign Savard.

As far as Seguin goes, I think the “locker room issues” rumors were bs. The stuff with him going out all night with his buddies from Toronto during the playoffs were legit. Bottom line is he got traded because they felt like he couldn’t be relied on to show up and do everything that he needed to do off the ice in the playoffs. And honestly, the few times that Dallas has made the playoffs, he’s either been hurt or ineffective. And now he’s making cap killing money.

My biggest issue is the same issue that I had with the Thornton trade. If you are going to trade a young guy like that, it’s either for a legit game changer or 1st round picks and top prospects.

Good call, I didn't even think about that.

The real returns of trading Jumbo Joe were being able to sign Chara/Savard and turning the leadership role over to Bergeron. Thankfully it was Chiarelli who was allowed to allocate that cap space and not MOC.

The REAL mistake that was made was firing Sullivan, but that eventually got us Claude and a Cup so I can't complain (and it worked out well for Sullivan too).

MOC works for the LA Kings. He’s the director of player development. I like Burke as well. His honesty in interviews is refreshing and he’s highly entertaining. But I think he’s a little confused here. Just my opinion based on comments after the trade.

Agreed with all of this.

Was discussing this on my buddies group text the other day. Seguin's career will be an interesting retrospective in that he's still a very good player, but can't be looked at as anything but a disappointment against what his potential/expectations were. We were debating where he fit compared to Tarasenko/Kuznetsov (also drafted in that first round) and while we weren't sure where he fit in that triumvirate, the fact that it was even a debate is an indictment of his career. He should be in the elite/superstar category and he's just a borderline All Star piling up some points and being a fringe All-Star.

I'm not sad the Bruins traded him, even in hindsight. And I think the trade looks different if John Scott doesn't scramble Loui's brains too.
