The Neely 49/50th goal game from 1994 is on NESN right now. Fred Cusicks golden pipes are bringing me back to my youth.
They had a couple Classics on last night and it brought me directly back to my youth. They had the 3 goals in 57 seconds game against the Habs in 1989 that I wanted to inject directly into my veins.

God I don’t miss the D to D pass philosophy of the Claude teams.

This is kind of just making me sad that we don't get to watch this year's team anymore. Stupid 1st World problem, I know, but....

The Devils tried this yesterday but public backlash forced them to about face.

Something tells me C. Montgomery Jacobs won't do the same. Shame.

Sadly, nothing is going to change. He’s 80 years old, this is who he is. I’d imagine the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with Charlie. The Jacobs family has put the bottom line ahead of all else during their 45 year run as owner. Everyone hates him/them already and they are used to it. Don’t think there’s much that can be done to get them to change their ways, short of stop consuming the product. But whenever the Bruins next take the ice the building will be full of people buying his beer, concessions and merchandise.

Hockey Hall of Famer, Jeremy Jacobs.

Carolina Hurricanes full-time employees were informed Wednesday they will no longer be paid after this week because of the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Don Waddell, president and general manager of the Hurricanes, instructed all non-contracted full-time employees to immediately use their accrued vacation time and personal time off (PTO). Employees without available vacation time or PTO will be off without pay.

Waddell did not indicate how long the policy might be in place in his emailed communication with the employees, nor indicate how their health benefits and other employee benefits would be affected. The policy does not affect contracted employees such as senior management, coaches or scouts.

So, they aren’t laid off, they just aren’t paid. Does that impact unemployment at all?

It’s really sickening that while so many people are giving so freely and openly that some others ... are not. And those are the ones that could help the most.

Are all employees who work exclusively for the Celtics and not the arena, under contract, or would they be included in this leave?

Jagr got the primary assist, no?

Looch was an absolute horse for the final 13 minutes or whatever.

Edit: Jagr got the secondary assist, Krejci was primary

Dom at the Athletic has been simming the season since the pause hit.

The Bruins are 7-1 since the pause (only loss was CBJ), just wrapped up the Division and Conference last night with a win over Ottawa. 114 points in 79 games, 1 point away from clinching the Presidents Trophy.

Fucking depressing what we're missing out on.

What sucks the most is this team really can’t afford a lost season given the age of the core. The window to win Cups is growing smaller with Chara, Bergeron, Krejci. Rask is talking about retirement after 2021. This is becoming a real missed opportunity to win another Cup with this group.

Not exactly as dire as you’re making it sound. Chara is at best the #3 defenseman on this team right now. Krejci has been passed by Coyle for #2 center based on ATOI. Rask is “talking” about retirement but has good years left in him. Plus now goaltending seems to be a position of strength in the prospect pipeline. Bergeron is the only player that there isn’t an obvious game plan for replacing. Hopefully one of Studnicka, Beecher, or Frederic develop into a decent 2nd line center and they can move forward with a great young D core and stud top line winger.

Watching game 4 2011 vs Les Habs. Down 4-3 with 11 to go. Can’t really afford a loss here to go down 3-1 in the series.

Also watching B’s - Habs Game 5 on NESN. Insane to think Marchand was basically a rookie this season and started on the 4th line with Campbell and Thornton. Then he got moved up with Bergy and literally hasn’t left his line since.

This is also the forgotten game from that run. Absolutely bananas game.

Also I’ve said it over and over. TT’s save on Gionta in this game is his best save of this playoffs, the best save of his career, and probably the best save in Bruins history.

Hope this is an appropriate thread for this. I wonder what the Ducks were offering.

Ex-GM Burke: Ducks made 'better offer' than Sharks for Thornton in '05

San Jose Sharks legend Joe Thornton might not have been a Shark at all.

Ex-Anaheim Ducks general manager Brian Burke says he pushed hard to acquire Thornton when the Boston Bruins made him available in 2005.

"We were in hard on Joe Thornton when Boston traded him and we made what we thought was a really outstanding offer the morning he got dealt," Burke told SN650's "Starting Lineup" on Thursday.

Burke added, "We didn't know that they had already committed to the trade with San Jose. But we stepped up in Anaheim and made what I considered to be a huge offer, and a better offer than Boston got."
